Exclusive

In the on-going saga that is Ken Baker and his tenure as Us Weekly comes word that he's leaving his gig as West Coast executive editor to become "editorial director" of UsMagazine.com. From EIC Janice Min's note to staff:

Effective today, Ken Baker has been named Editorial Director of usmagazine.com. He will still be overseeing Hot Hollywood events for the magazine, and be doing PR for the magazine.

For all assignments and LA queries pertaining to the magazine, please contact Martha Flores. A replacement will be named shortly.

Or, if you read between the lines, Ken will be heading up the new "celebrity video channel" venture with Veoh. And slapping Noelle Hancock around.

Update: After the jump, the more official-sounding announcement.

Wenner Media today announced that Us Weekly West Coast Executive Editor Ken Baker has been named Editorial Director of Usmagazine.com. In this newly created position, Baker will oversee Us Weekly's digital content for the Web site and mobile devices.

Baker will also be responsible for the content for Usmagazine.com's newly announced branded video entertainment channel on the Veoh web site. The channel, launching in February in partnership with Veoh Networks, will be the exclusive Celebrity Channel on Veoh and will contain Us' exclusive content, pulled from celebrity studded parties, Us Weekly events, news stories and features by Us editorial staffers.

Effective today, Ken Baker just fell off the face of the earth. With a fake title in place, Baker joins the seven exisiting Us.com employees, none of whom are on the West Coast, and will serve as red carpet monkey and mouthpiece for the two annual Us events each year. While we hope this new position humiliates him enough to quit before his contract expires at the end of March, he may stay to degrade himself further, and we cannot be responsible for his actions.
One of the many People staffers who were laid off last week will be in to take his old position of West Coast Executive Editor, so stay tuned! Janice Min

No. 4 Ken's not so bad. says:

in kens defense, he was probably stiffed himself when he presented the bill to the charity. i'm betting that when he gave them the bill he was probably told that they expected complimentary services for 'all the good that they do' and that his magazine should pay up. world class.
