Lamest World Series Match-Up in History
Kiddie Leagues

Tampa Bay vs. Philly
. Can't you just hear the excitement mounting? Not if you are Fox and you were banking on the biggest baseball series of the year to boost up some slumping ratings. Because who even knows any of the players on the Tampa Bay Rays or the Philadelphia Phillies?

First sign of things to come? A "technical glitch" during Tampa's game on Sunday, "a blackout of the contest's first 20 minutes. Perplexed fans were treated to an episode of 'The Steve Harvey Show' instead."

First of all if you don't know any of the players on the Phillies you don't deserve to watch baseball in the first place. The Phillies are home to the last 2 NL MVP's, Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins. And if you don't know who Chase Utley is you should be ashamed to even cal yourself baseball fan. Now as for the Tampa Bay Rays they are just young but again they Evan Longoria and BJ Upton who have been 2 of the most explosive young players in baseball. Maybe this world series isn't a national favorite but these 2 teams belong in the World Series and to say it is lame goes against what baseball is about and what the world series is about.

So to Drew I say write what you know about, which I am assuming limits you to conversations about the latest episode of the Gilmore Girls.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks every sports final that doesn't involve Boston/New York/New England/Los Angeles isn't boring. I love seeing the "underdogs" (and I only use that term for these two teams because of the perception rather than actual talent, for which they are not underdogs). I will be watching every game because I love seeing good sporting events that don't involve the same damn teams every year.

DLEP - VERY well put. If you don't know the name of the player currently leading the National league in Home Runs and can't acknowledge the fact that people don't know the Rays players because they are the beginning of a dynasty that will change the way baseball teams are managed… you shouldn't be writing about baseball. It's an underdog story. Sorry Friends is being bumped for America's Favorite pastime.

I agree with DLEP, Herc and Cara! I also like to root for scrappy underdogs and like to see the Goliaths get their comeuppance.

Being a Jays fan, I like to see an AL East team make it the World Series, but at the same time, I have a healthy aversion to the Bosox and Yanks. I'm just kind of sick of those teams. Go Rays!

LOL @ the people who still think Friends and Gilmore Girls are on television. The 90's were fun!

I'm glad to see Drew is staying up to date with his sitcoms. Stay away from baseball and keep your idiotic comments to yourself. You are wasting webspace.
