LAT Bans Reporters From Even Blogging About John Edwards, Ensuring They'll Be the Last to the Beat
 

Good luck trying to access NationalEnqurier.com; the site is down, as is AMI cousin StarMagazine.com. Drudge hints it has to do with a legal action against the tabloid related to John Edwards, but provides no details.

Not that reporters or bloggers at the Los Angeles Times will be affected much: They've been banned from even mentioning the Edwards/love child story, even if they're interested in debunking the Enquirer's report. (Except, um, oops.) Just as Enquirer editor David Perel suggested would happen.

Nevermind that at least one other media outlet, Fox News, has gone and confirmed that Edwards was at the Beverly Hilton Hotel just like the Enquirer said. And that others are moving quickly to score themselves some Edwards nuggets.

I hope that the story of John Edwards affair is false. I am voting for John McCain because of his experience, and Obama pick of Edwards as his V. P. would still not sway me to vote for him. However, I am very impressed by Edwards wife Elizabeth. She has been a champion for all women who have ever suffered, or are currently victims of breast cancer. Let's pray that all this is just gossip, and for the sake of the Edwards family this will be proven untrue. If this rumor is true not only will it hurt the Edwards family, but the Obama campaign, the democratic party, and the entire nation. Let's pray this is not true.

Really, who cares if Edwards has an affair? It's nobody's business—and this from a career journalist. It just doesn't matter, on any level. He's not in office, he's not running for anything, he's not even publicly advocating or pushing for or lobbying for anything!! So if he's having an affair–so what?! That's his business. It is, on all journalistic levels, a huge, stinking, idiotic non-story. Enough. It's done. Move on. There happen to be more important stories in the world to worry about than whether some ex-politician is having an affair. Wake up, people! And people will vote for McCain because he's experienced and is a career politician and because he's a smart man. That's not an endorsement–we're not McCain fans–but people do like him, and they will vote for him. A couple of million, by a recent count.
