Like Mariah Carey's Head on Its Cover, Elle Doesn't Appreciate Lopsided Coverage

According to a handful of Elle staffers we've spoke with in the past few weeks, the magazine's editor, Robbie Myers, is actually pretty well liked by many on the masthead. Sure, she has her flaws ("What's with the constant giggling?" snipes one; she's always in a "shitty mood," counters another) and we've been fed plenty of anecdotes to squeeze her in to some Jossip copy, but might Ms. Myers actually be running a fashion magazine and have the respect of her staff? Pity, then, that in New York's feature this week about the feud between soon-to-be-ex-Elle staffer Nina Garcia and fashion news director and Stylista face Anne Slowey, Myers didn't get to have her say. Though quizzed by the article's author (Gawker Media's Moe Tkacik) about Project Runway and Stylista, Myers wasn't asked about the supposed bad blood between her two minions. And that doesn't sit well with her: "That story is full of quotes about why I did what I did, how could they possibly know why I did anything or what motivated me to do anything in my job, unless they ask me? Even if someone else where to speculate about why I did something, the fact that nobody called me even to fact check it is egregious." (Myers has written us notes before, saying some of our coverage hurt her, too.) And there's the rub: Tkacik is, by profession, a blogger (from Jezebel to Gawker in some twisted job hijacking involving Radar), and we're trained not to ask those type of questions that might have you confuse us with journalists. But if her work is going to appear in New York, well, perhaps it should have met higher standards — and reported all sides of the story. By not doing so, well, this mini scandal stays alive.

Can everyone with these magazines grow up? Gawd, this is just pathetic. Everyone: Get up, go to work, do your job, and realize that you're lucky to have a magazine job. But stop acting like children, now. And outside of a few people at these magazines, no one really gives a damn about the juvenile antics of these spoiled drama queens. No one. So get over it, now, and grow up.

Moe Tkacik is a hack blogger/writer at best. She is often incoherent and difficult to follow. She has proven to be irresponsible in her personal and professional life. Really what does Myers, the New Yorker or anyone for that matter really expect from Moe? The answer should be not much. Family connections can certainly get you a job, but real talent no amount of money can buy. She's lucky Gawker Media gives her a regular gig.

Moe Tkacik actually WAS a journalist, she used to work for the WSJ as well as other publications. She should have asked Meyers the questions, even if she was just going to speculate in the end, she doesn't need Meyers' stamp of approval to speculate in a piece and she knows that. Sadly, Moe is as poor of a journalist as she is a blogger, and both of those facts probably explain why she is such an unfortunate writer.

i worked two years at elle and can attest there was nothing wrong with the article. it is a spot on portrayal of what goes on in that place. perhaps Moe is the only journalist with enough integrity to report how it really is and not the PR crap that Elle puts out. they are notoriously known for trashing those who no longer work there. it is a pity that someone like robbie myers is so insecure and feels the need to deny the obvious. i guess Robbies public relations 'team' could not sway this reporter. bravo to Moe.

The reason Robbie Myers is always in such a shitty mood is because this frustrated cougar never gets LAID. she obsseses over office gossip and is insecure about her unsuccesful architect husband. I feel bad for Anne Slowey she is just being used as a pawn to get rid of Gilles and Nina. Nobody cares or shows her any respect in the office, they just treat her like the office 'nut'.
As for Robbies complaining about how unfairly she was treated in that article: WAKE UP , cry baby !! If you want to act like ANNA WINTOUR then learn how to take the punches.
