"CNBC might not be big enough for both the Money Honey, Maria Bartiromo, and the Street Sweetie, Erin Burnett," writes Page Six.
At least, not according to the older (and arguably less attractive Bartiromo) who is said to be less than thrilled about Burnett's meteoric rise to financial world fame.
Writes the New York Post:
An inside source tells Page Six the Money Honey has been fuming that curvy Burnett, in addition to her duties as anchor of "Street Signs" and co-anchor of "Squawk on the Street," is getting substantial airtime on the "Today" show, which gives her a much bigger audience. "Maria is like, hey, why isn't it me on the 'Today' show? She's very jealous of all the attention Erin is getting," our source said.
And that's just the beginning.
The NYP then goes on to assert that Bartiromo—who is, apparently, unofficially nicknamed "The Bank Skank—was "riled" at a recent Post profile of Burnett (crowning her as "Maria 2.0" and Wall Street's "sizzling media darling") and notes that Burnett—and not Bartiromo—was voted the "hottest financial news anchor" on Dealbreaker.com, and, oh, did they mention she's also 9 years younger?[Ed: They did!]
"Not only is Burnett nine years younger than Bartiromo," writes Page Six, who then helpfully adds, "she also comes with less baggage."
Ouch.
Which is pretty much their not-subtle way of saying "she looks better in a bikini and has never had an affair with a married Citigroup exec."
Leaving us (and, presumably, CNBC) wondering only one thing: How do you solve a problem like Maria?
