Maria Bartiromo Quizzes Sam Zell Without Raising Eyebrows at SEC

Writing for BusinessWeek – since she's missed a few Closing Bells, she clearly has the time – embroiled CNBC anchor Maria Bartiromo checks in with Sam Zell, the new Tribune Co. owner. But unlike a ride aboard a Citi jet, Maria ain't flashing her IPEX in this interview. She means bid-ness.

How can we tell? It takes a full five questions before Maria asks about anything besides Zell's plans to tear the papers apart.

• The word is you're meeting with David Geffen to discuss the sale of the L.A. Times. Are you expecting to sell it?

• Would you consider selling the Tribune newspapers in Baltimore or New York to local groups?

• Do you see a need to downsize the staff at any of the papers?

• Tribune's broadcasting operations have been disappointing, so what changes do you foresee there?

• Do you have an exit strategy, or are you in this for a long stay?

And this missing Q: Do you need some positive press coverage when you take Tribune public?

Maria missed one day shy of two weeks on Closing Bell. She is as you have read, a star. That will last until NBC/Universal gets pissed off enough with her negative press. She can't stay out of trouble since colliding with Todd Thomson. By the way…..what is IPEX? I am not too technologically savvy.

You already screwed up once Jossip, with calling Maria Bartiromo and adultress when you were referring to Paula Zahn. Then an apology. Now using the word embroiled. What is this about. She was embroiled, unless you know something we don't, but not anymore. She and her husband unless you don't read Dealbreaker.com….have closed on a 6.4 million dollar pad in Manhattan. I would say maybe…..just maybe she has had her head screwed on straight this time. I hope so……….I am sick of reading not nice things about Maria.
