When Diane Neal announced she was leaving Law & Order: SVU, where she plays the assistant district attorney, we were devastated. Sure, Neal's leaving wouldn't have the impact of, say, Chris Meloni leaving the series, but still — A.D.A Casey Novak was bizness! (And she was more hardcore than her predecessor Stephanie March, and yet more likable.) Who, then, could possibly fill Neal's shoes? SVU producers just confirmed her replacement: Michaela McManus. Adults who refuse to leave their teenage years behind them might know McManus from her stint on One Tree Hill, playing Linsey Strauss. But staffers who work at E! in Los Angeles might know her from somewhere else.

McManus used to be the receptionist at the entertainment network's in-house fitness club, a real-life role not to be confused with "bartender's wife," her first fictional gig.

And are all white. New York happens to be one of the most racially diverse cities in the world. But not according to Dick Wolf. Quit leching on shiksas, Wolf. Throw in a latina or black woman. Heck, even an Asian if you're feeling especially reckless.
To Jim Ellis, there is a latina on Law & Order, the first one. A black woman would be welcome, though. I agree.
Umm…maybe I'm missing something, but on SVU, Fin (Ice-T) isn't white and neither is Wong.

Funny. The original L & O featured a black assistant D.A., Paul Robinette (Richard Brooks). A great roll be a wonderful acter (imnsho) He appeared to be an African American, as best I could tell. Isn't the lieutenant on S.V.U (S. Epatha Merkerson ) black ?.Ice tea appears to be black too.. Oh, and Benjamin Bratt….. a Latino I think…
Lets not forget the really great character, detective Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin).. African American as well.. Seems a bit more then just a "smattering". i was so mad when i found that casey novak was leaving. I was screaming and throwing things at the TV. i wanted her to come back. Also it not like the new ada can fill her shoes anyways . Even oliva dont like her.
She's horrible on the show, and Ice T and Jesse L Martin are married to white girls, they don't represent black men.
Michaela McManus is so dumb. I cant believe that Diane Neil was dumb enough to leave. The show will never be the same without her. It doesnt even seem like Michaela knows what she is doing. She doesnt fit the role of an A.D.A. At least with Casey you could totally see that she is the perfect person to play the part. And to Jim Ellis, there is a black woman on the show…. the M.E Warner (Melinda). So there, get ur facts straight!!!!!!
She might be dumb but who cares? She's hot. It's not like Stephanie March and Diane Neal (notice correct spelling there, Cassandra, aka Ms Judgmental) were geniuses. And yes, all three have been young, slim, and attractive because that's HOLLYWOOD. Do you think people would be as inclined to watch the show if thr ADA were old, fat, and ugly? The reality is no. Finally, Xandria, you were so mad you were throwing things at your TV? If you're that upset change the channel and watch something else. Or here's a really novel idea: get a life!
I love Michaela McManus as the new ADA. I been following the show since the first season & have seen every episode. I think the tranistion from Stephanie March to Diane Neal was smooth as well as Diane Neal to Michaela McManus. McManus makes a wonderful ADA. the fact that she is slim & pretty is a plus. & I do not think there is anything wrong with her look. Of course Hollywood wants someone attractive but if u see attorneys in today's society a lot of them are slim & attractive because they have the money for the up keep. Michaela is great! I love her!
