Mike Huckabee Wants His Own Fox News Show, But Where Would The Put Him?

Not content to merely appear on Fox News as a contributor, Mike Huckabee, who once fooled himself into thinking he might live in the White House one day, is said to be aiming for his own television show on Fox News. This should not be a surprise. The former Arkansas governor was long suspected of staying in the Republican primary race, despite the all-but-impossible chance of beating John McCain, not because he shared Hillary Clinton's line of thinking — Hey, McCain could be assassinated — but because remaining in the game meant the media would still have to report on him, thus boosting his profile to somewhere between crazy fool and respected Republican figurehead.

After an appearance as a political analyst on one of MSNBC’s election-night broadcasts, Huckabee last month inked a one-year deal with Fox to provide commentary on a variety of the networks shows.

A source with knowledge of Huckabee’s contract said it included tentative plans for him to host his own show. Fox declined to comment about plans for the show, while a Huckabee advisor did not immediately have information about the discussions.

But, in a Monday e-mail, Huckabee told supporters he’s looking to expand his media footprint on Fox and elsewhere.

“I’m in New York for a few days to meet with Fox News officials and discuss a show I would host, as well as appear on numerous Fox programs in the next few days,” reads his email. “On Tuesday and Wednesday, a really special opportunity for me — I’ll be subbing for the legendary and immortal Paul Harvey on the ABC Radio Network.”

Huckabee called the Harvey gig “truly a special honor” and asked his supporters to pray for him to have “clarity when substituting for Paul Harvey” as well as “wisdom in being on shows like Hannity and Colmes and O’Reilly.”

Having just signed former Hillary Clinton strategist Howard Wolfson, Fox News might be interested in pairing Huckabee with their newest analyst for a fresher Hannity & Colmes-esque program. Finding room on the dial, of course, would involve getting rid of, uh, Hanity and Colmes.

I'll bet this trash journalism would have said the same thing about Ronald Reagan. Well get your laughs while you can! Huckabee, ever the shrewd campaigner, getting more bang for his buck than ANYONE during this election, is once again being underestimated by liberal media. When will you learn? Maybe in 4 years when Huckabee lands in the White House? Maybe in November when he becomes John McCain's vice-president?

I like Mike. His new show is different from the norm out there and enjoyable to watch.
