Movies Bloggers Fight Back Against Scoop-Stealing Trades

Mainstream media stealing stories that break on the blogs? It's like 2001 all over again! A group of independent movie blogs who are tired of Variety and The Holllywood Reporter printing day-old blog news and claiming it as their own are banding together to boycott the trades. Now, because those bloggers aren't really buying the print edition of the trades, the way they'll be wielding their power is by refusing to link to either paper. Oooh, Internet warfare! [Folio]

It's not just movie news that the mainstream steals - I've been stolen from by mainstream media and other (networked and media-backed) bloggers! Though, I do have to say that stopping of linkage isn't going to hurt anybody. Frankly, I use it as a PR weapon against mainstream media and bigger bloggers that steal from me - I let every one of my readers know that I reported it first and it's just secondhand gossip when the big dogs pounced. Then, I just move on and continue to give them more to steal.
