MTV.Com Marketing Morning After Pill

If you went to MTV.com in the past week or so, you might have noticed banner ads for Plan B., otherwise known as the morning-after pill which has been shown to prevent pregnancy if taken up to 72-hours after unprotected sex. And naturally, this has some parents concerned about what MTV is telling their children.

"It adds to my concern that the owner of Plan B is directly targeting younger girls in order just to sell more of their product, without concern for the health or the emotional well-being of those girls," said Wendy Wright, president of the Washington-based advocacy group Concerned Women for America.

Yes, can we please not have mention of sexual protection or birth control on MTV either? We were happy with just the rampant underage sexuality and alcohol abuse shown on shows like The Hills, Real World, and er, all of their programming.

There's always someone watching out for what they don't want to see - they spend time and money scouring for Plan B, abortion, condoms, etc. as words on youth-oriented websites. As you said, what about Gossip Girl - never seen a condom pulled out there, although lots of sex. Sheesh.

They should keep running the ads. There is an incredible amount of misinformation out there and kids are having to do serious research just to find the facts. It shouldn't be that hard.

I constantly get hits for things like, "can men buy Plan B" and "is Plan B legal in "
