Natalee Holloway's Mother Finally Cashing in On Daughter's Death
Paging Lynn Spears/Dina Lohan

Natalee Holloway's disappearance in Aruba was one of those "white girl disappears overseas" stories that captured the media's attention in 2005. So why is the made-for-tv-movie coming out now? Well, Mrs. Holloway needed time to write the book, of course!

The film is slated to air sometime next year and will tell the story of Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, and her relentless efforts to discover the truth behind her daughter's disappearance.

It is based on the book, "Loving Natalee: A Mother's Testament of Hope and Faith."

You know, it may be in bad taste to insinuate this mother is profiting off of her daughter's disappearance/death in Aruba. But it's also in bad taste to profit off of your daughters death (esp. when it coincides with the case reopening with new evidence) so let's call this one a draw.

natalee's family continues the hunt for natalee's body. the searches are very expensive an the money has to come from somewhere. the last water search amounted to more than a million and a half dollars. since aruba doesn't seem to want to do anything except make excuses for not prosecuting the people responsible for her disappearance, it's all left up to natalee's family.

Give me a break.
Production companies can and will make unauthorized movies "based on" actual new stories.
All without any input or payment to those actually involved.
Holloway's mother rightly should receive compensation if a story of her daughter's disappearance is serialized or made into a movie of the week.

I think it's great she has an opportunity to generate some funds to help pay for searches past and searches to come. I don't know this family but like many wish for closure on this case and that Natalie is found!

Where are your comments about all the others who have earned compensation from this tragedy? If Beth is receiving any compensation, and that you do not know for sure, she will use it for good works. This is an opportunity for her to keep this event in the eyes of the public and I am sure this is her intent. Who are you to judge. Have you lost a child in Aruba where "it's okay" to rape and murder, just don't hamper their tourism? I know, it's the attention you will reap. Say some prayers for yourself, you need them.

The title and article is right on the money, pardon the pun. Yes it's all about cashing in. Lifetime pays several million dollars to rights to make these movies. Are we going to hear who the mother will be donating that money to?
Or will it go for more plastic surgery and jet setting?

No one deserves to get rich from their own child's tragedy. She hasn't used any money so far for searches for her daughter, people who searched did so for free.

Don't know what the person denniston is trying to pull on people because Beth didn't pay a penny for the last water search, everything was all donated, donated first by the owners and when they ran out of money they went about looking for donations from the public, when they didn't get enough donations from the public they stopped searching. Ms Twitty never gave them a dime..

As a parent who has followed this case from the beginning, this article is infuriating! The writers obviously don't have a clue what this family has been through for the past three and a half years. All they want is their daughter back, even if only to give her a proper burial. To suggest that THEY are making money off of the situation; absolutely ridiculous. The Aruban government and their hired hacks are the ONLY ones in this case who value dollars more than a human life. It's all about tourism to Aruba, it's all about Natalee to her family and those that love them. And..Natalee was so much more than just a "white girl that disappears overseas"! Natalee was a beautiful, intelligent, caring girl who worked very hard to achieve in school in order to attend college and become a doctor. She was the daughter any parent would be proud of. She would have been in her fourth year of college now…WHERE IS SHE? Her family deserves that knowledge.

Actually it is the factual truth Hope.

Beth Holloway is making $$$ off of the situation by being involved in the fiction movie (least will be fiction if they use her book for reference). She is cashing in.

Unless she donated every dime of profit from her book she wrote, she was cashing in then too.

Just the way it happens in this capitalistic country we live in.

What searches are Natalee's family paying for?? I thought NONE. Tim Miller does not accept money from the victim's family when he searches. What other search has there been? Or are you just trying to spin this to sound good?

OMG!! This article is disgusting!! and IGNORANT!! It makes me lose faith in America…where has our humanity gone!!

It's just a disgrace to see comments made about a Mother who has lost her child & has spent all her efforts & resources in finding her daughter's whereabouts and justice in an unjust world….as well as trying to educate others of what happens when traveling in a foreign country!!

Perhaps the outrage should be directed towards the perpetrators and the judicial system of a primarily American tourist island in a foreign land. Does it not bother you that billions are spent encouraging Americans to visit said island , spend their hard earned cash supporting their economy…and when an accident .. or tragedy happens…you..are dismissed as nothing of importantce?

Learn the facts of this particular case! Then you may be shocked to know of the game being played on unsuspecting young American tourist girls on their last night….the date rape drugs, the gang rape, the porn videos, then dumping unconscious & unaware girls as if they were a bag of trash on some deserted beach close to their hotel .. so they can awake in time to catch their flight home…lost, hurt, abused, confused, used….but alive….unlike poor Natalee…who was more than likely just tossed into the sea….so as not to interrupt the deal ole tourist industry…govt & police officials turn their heads and/or begin a smear campaign blaming the victim & their families.

Wake up people!! Put your outrage in the right direction! Demand Justice for Natalee…only then will YOU and your family members be safe abroad!!

You are right. That comment was ignorant. I guess the guy that wrote it just wanted a rise out of readers. There is nothing wrong with a mother writing a book, she was devastated. Writing can be cathartic. Obviously, the writer is cashing in on his stupid comments!!

This is the most idiotic and disgusting article I have ever read.Until you have something like this happen to you….shut hell up. This is why I hate reading blogs/articles these days….this country is slowly turning into a cold cold place…..considering who is winning in the Pres. polls….I have completely lost faith in America.

There is no amount of money that could possible make up for the loss of her daughter and the hell they have all been through. To speak ill of and financial gain is someone not using any compassion of any kind.

Your comment that Natalee's Mom is allowing the movie for money absolutely sickening! Have you ever lost a child with ghastly circumstances surrounding their death? Even if you have, keep your big mouth SHUT unless you can say something kind to this Mom who has endured a parent's worst nightmare. She is trying so desperately to reach students and groups speaking about traveling safely internationally. If you had a working brain, not to mention a heart, you would understand where any money Natalee's death generates is going. Mrs. Twitty's effort to make her daughter's death meaningful is absolutely commendable but unfortunately everything is this new realm must be VERY expensive. May God grant a very special blessing only reserved for parents who lose their children. My heart goes out to this family.

The Twitty/Holloway family have endured unspeakable tragedy. However, I have always found Beth Twitty's behavior bizarre. She
acts as though the tragedy is all about her and not Natalee. After she freeloaded off the Aruban people, she turned on them. Even her last husband could hardly wait to get away from her.
Beth has benefited from this tragedy. I think she loves the attention.
