An upset caused by a massive write-in on the ballots have secured Rick Astley a place in the nominations for Best Act Ever at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Despite not having a hit in almost two decades, Astley found a resurgence in popularity after his video for Never Gonna Give You Up became the punchline for a viral video phenomena known as "Rick-rolling."
