New PC Commercial Parodies Mac Commercial Making Fun of PC
It's metadvertising!

So scrap that Seinfeld and Bill Gates team-up idea that none of the tech blogs liked: Windows already thought up a new tongue-in-cheek ad campaign airing tonight that would make Peggy Olson wet her knickers.

Introducing the PC guy from the Mac commercials. Sort of:

The commercial starts with a real-life Windows engineer who looks eerily similar to John Hodgman (the comedian who plays the role of “PC” in Apple’s commercials), saying “I’m a PC and I’ve been made into a stereotype.” After that is a montage of celebs and normal folk, saying “I’m a PC.” Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, along with the aforementioned celebrities (Eva Longoria Parker, Tony Parker, Pharrell Williams and Deepak Chopra) makes an appearance in the ad.

Hey, so long as Justin Long or some facsimile of that smug horsey face isn't anywhere near the set, we're happy.

Right on! Apple commercials tell us important stuff like they have jeans ,ratty haircuts, few options, stark packaging, high prices, etc. while Windows ads only tell us that they have a broad, diverse user base, intriguing new products on the horizon, no need to constantly mention Apple or Mac, and junk like that.

And an obsessive fascination with the letter "i". Don't forget that!

Apple commercial stereotyped PC users into geeks, and Microsoft came out with an ad that showed how cool geeks are. Makes me want to be in their ad too.

I like the ad. It is a good comeback to the Mac ads. Windows is showing it's diversity, something I like about it. In fact that's why I choose Windows over Mac.

This was actually very clever and emotional based advertising. It totally catches you off guard at the begining. I have to hand it to microsoft, they finially have something that is on the same plain as apple.

What I found best about the ad was that they never mentioned "Mac." Imagine, a company self assured enough that they can counter another's ad without once mentioning that other company. It's about time PC came up with a good ad.

This commercial is very reflective of the uncreative nature of PCs and their users.

Besides, these people said what they do (fun and for a living) but they didn't imply how much they LOVE their PC the way Mac users LOVE theirs.

Was the commercial made on a PC? BORING!!!

I am now going to officially boycott Depak Chopra. Too bad. I love Zrii.

And the geek at the beginning…Mac probably discontinued his contract to move onto a more appealing ad campaign and since he's been branded as a geek, he just went home to geeksville. That's okay, PC can have him. Mac will scoop PC again with a much better approach. Nice tagline PC, can you say, second fiddle any other way?

Good luck! Mac since age 9.

So if all these people are PC's, do they all have viruses? Do doctors have to spend sleepless hours trying to get them to work the way they should? Do they need to constantly defrag themselves or reload their brain once a year? I'm a mac, and although I'm not perfect… I'm healthy and stable.

The fact that you play into the Mac commercials in your comments is enough to state that you're all tools. That's right. Believing some bullshit lie a corporation divulges like a two cent hooker claiming to be STD free. God reflect on your own intelligence for once. TOOLS

Windows needed this add since they were losing market share to apple. Granted it's a blatant rip off, but apple did such a good job of painting windows into a corner, it's the only way they could respond. The Jerry Seinfeld Bill Gates ads were retarded!

Fantastic commercial…About time PC users started defending themselves.

PCs are tools and tools are what is used in the real world. I wish PC commercials would point out that Mac users are mainly using them as toys, while PC users are working.

I also wish PC commercials would point out the crazy price difference. I can use same money and buy TWICE the PC computer and still re-use the monitor afterwards.

ipod may be cool but I will NEVER leave my PC.

Well, that says about all you need to know about the "Microsoft Response".

The hare's woken up too late AGAIN.

See you next time 'round, PC…

The PC/Winedows add was lame. Mac called me a geek and now I gotta show that I am cool. Whatever.

"Francisco" with his comment said all you have to hear… PC is real world work and Mac is a toy. The two Steve’s did a nice job in bringing a competitor to the market but, it will NEVER replace the PC in the work environment. One day something will replace both and we can all be one again… You’re still my hero BG….
