If you haven't realized already from my gushing posts about Watchmen and Star Trek, I'm kind of a huge nerd. But not one of those "purist" types that really care if they ruin Will Eisner's The Spirit (which they will, or already did) or if Art Spiegelman's name is never as famous as Tobey Maguire's or Christian Bale's.

But it does bear a little LOL at the news that Gossip Girl and OC creator Josh Schwartz will be writing the newest superhero film, X-men: First Class.

According to Variety, "Fox has been leaning toward using the younger characters introduced in the previous pics in future installments — teenagers with powers taught at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning."

Which is totally bitching because who wouldn't want to see Chuck Bass with the power of flight?

On the other hand, I'll give this new film the same analysis I gave Heroes: it would be better if they had gotten Joss Whedon. He's already written Astonishing X-men comics, and is already established as one of the best dialogue writers for teen sci-fi out there.
