New York Polling Places Piss Off the Wrong Semi-Famous Political Activist
The cradle will rock

OMG, voter intimidation! Tim Robbins, wife domestic partner of Susan Sarandon, involved the police today when his name didn't come up as registered for voting at the McBurney YMCA at West 14th Street. When Robbins kicked up a fuss and demanded his right to vote, a registration worker threatened to call the police. The police! Don't these people know who Tim Robbins his common-law wife is??

“Is this some kind of intimidation? I’m taking this as intimidation.” He added that he was prepared to be arrested, if necessary.

It did not get to that. Mr. Robbins was offered the chance to fill out an affidavit ballot. He filled it out, but did not submit it, and instead insisting on speaking to an official from the city’s Board of Elections, who informed him that he could go to the board’s Manhattan office, at 200 Varick Street, near West Houston Street. There, board officials verified that Mr. Robbins was indeed a properly registered voter, in the board’s database.
Mr. Robbins said he did not suspect anything “nefarious” in his case, noting that his partner, Ms. Sarandon, who is also politically active, did not encounter any voting problems.

Oh. So there was a mix-up at the polling station and Mr. Robbins had to vote somewhere else? Yawn. Call us when some actually disenfranchised people aren't allowed to vote, and it makes it into the news.

Demanding to speak to the Big Chief? Yes. There was a mix-up at the polling station and having to vote somewhere else? Yes. Being in line today with so many first time voters this type of behavior is not unusual was seen too many times for my liking. My sympathy is non-existent. If you voted at every election you would always know your polling poll. (And yes, I do know it is your right not to vote.)

Just one of how many hundreds of thousands of voters denied by Republican fraud. They can only win by fraud, race/gay bating, fearmongering, millionaire-paid for intimidating challenges and deceit. They gave us Bush. A Dem denied his legitimate voting rights? Gee, what a surprise. Up American values! Thank the good God for courageous patriots like Robbins.

I also had problems voting today. I kicked up a fuss, just like Tim, because I HAD THE RIGHT TO DO SO!!! I was eventually allowed to exercise my right to vote. I don't understand why you insist on taking diggs at Mr. Robbins. He was well within his rights. You obviously don't like him and that's okay but don't make it sound like he did something wrong. And, HELLO . . . Tim Robbins is a well respected actor, director and producer. Not by you, of course, but by the people who matter.
