I didn't have much hope for the Watchmen movie, specifically because it's directed by the "revolutionary director of the 300," a disingenuous phrase if I've ever heard one. Plus, the casting seemed a little wonky: these people are supposed to be old, washed up superheroes but you got Patrick Wilson as Night Owl and Billy Cudrup as Dr. Manhattan? Psshhh, please.
But you got to admit, this trailer looks good, and now I'm starting to get excited all over again. Let's just cross our fingers and hope they don't ruin it like they do all other Alan Moore adaptations (V for Vendetta, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell).

Keeping my fingers crossed as well, as the "superhero feature film" is getting increasingly overcrowded. So… it has to be a lot better than average to catch my attention! Think of all the superhero flicks that have been out in the last few years, especially this past year! Crazy!
After seeing Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, and Iron Man (I rank those as excellent, very good, and good, respectively) I decided to take a sabbatical from the genre for awhile, but this one has potential.
BTW, I thought "From Hell" was pretty good. The accompanying documentaries on the DVD provide some cool context, as well. Those other two? Yeah, I agree. Meh.
Sorry, wha..? "V for Vendetta" is incredible, surely one of the two or three best translations of g novel to screen *ever*. It's incredibly timely, hypnotic, heartbreaking, well-written, and a textbook on how to (gently) improve your source material.
Now "From Hell" was a belabored and inferior remake of "Murder by Decree", and "LoEG" was a generic studio-screwed mess from beginning to end. No wonder the author's taken his name off any more, after those.
But watch "VfV" on the fifth of November, as my partner and I just did, and try not to cry at its bleakly hopeful ending, where the corrupt government falls and its disenfranchised citizens cheer as it dies.
