Is Today show producer Noah Oppenheim about to be named executive producer of David Gregory's new 6pm MSNBC show? That's the rumor we're hearing from inside 30 Rock. [Ed: Update: It's also the rumor the Observer already heard.] Oppenheim, who runs the 7am hour of the Today show, is said to be the frontrunner for Tucker Carlson's replacement show. But naming him to the lucrative spot has some concerned — is this just more evidence that veterans from NBC proper are heavy-handing their way into leadership roles at the cable net? To be fair, Noah is a MSNBC veteran himself; he was once a senior producer of of Hardball and EP of Scarborough Country. (Bonus points: Oppenheim was also, according to his website, the editorial chair of The Harvard Crimson while a student.)

Im verry troubled at Obamas judement . Who would want their children rasied in a church what preaches such hate. I was verry troubled at the remarks made by Mrs. Obamas a few months ago when she said this was the first time she felt proud of her county . Now I see where her speach is comming from. They seem to be keeping her out of view now and I cannot keep from wondering what else she thinks, and is Obama realy who he says he is?
To David Gregary..for hopefully a balanced, objective view of the POLITICAL RACE….idea is to make some part of it like Larry King's show
Comment:
So many churches..religions over the years have had doctorines or leaders who have preached about subjects and issues not shared by the congregation. Yet the congregation remains. A church is larger than just one person..even it's leader. Since Obama is realizing the significance of his associations now that he is running for President..I, for one, am realistic enough to know it is an emotional and difficult decision to sever or distance oneself from past relationships. I feel he is intelligent to know how to handle such issues. Media is pushing!!! Can you imagine looking into any or all politican's "closets"? We were in Bill Clinton's closet all too often ..yet I thought he was a competent President. What do you think The Media wants to make of Obama's association with his church? Fear?..again with the fear…are we nothing but ABOUT FEAR?
I do believe the Media has had too much freedom to use it's (their) opinions to direct political outcome. I am especially frustrated with Pat Bucannan-just his high pitched voice is grating. He is apparently respected by many other newscaster , therefore his message is used repeatedly throughout the day. I must say I have respected some of his converative views, so I am not anti his appearences..he is just too one sided for me. Chris Matthrews doesn't allow anyone to finish a thought and comes across very knowledgable but show his disapproval when someone does not agree with his statements. He is a challenge to say the least..I do appreciate his politcal knowledge. I get frustrated that he , as others can voice their opinions and we are not heard. "We" have no comparable venue. The newscasters are not coming across as non partisan. They are augmenting issues that they want to make controversial…instead of assisting campaigns to stay on message. The News casters throw the campaigns off..and LIKE TO DO SO. If there is an issue of question don't belabor..get Hillary or Barck to commemt and get back to to the real issues the "average" American cares about. Newscasters love to disect and over analyze. This is the first time in years there are TWO great Democratic nominees worth listening to…let "me-us" hear the issues not the muck. We don't need SLN or the news determining who is President. Cover the Campaign speeches..let us hear the stump speeches and town hall meetings..let us follow the nominees through out their travels on the "main streets" and at the kitchen tables..we don't need to see talking heads at a newcast table telling or doing our interpetation of what has transpired..take us where the action is and let us hear the candidates live. Let us SPEAK directly to them..ask guests-Nominees questions like Larry King show….come on you can do it..make it real.
I am 62-a "baby-boomer". I have 4 children..3 are women now and I do think a woman can be President. Hillary is capable and a possiblity..She has wanted this position..has seen it to be her direction. Obama is a strong consideration for me….For me..he is what I call an "untouchable" as of now…unless he gets ruined by politics as usual. He is calm, steady..thinks logically(what arelief over G Bush..dah!)..I get the sense he sees the whole picture and does know what struggle means..knows what is important to the average American:
Milk costs
How to pay for gas to get to work
Having to stay home from work because there is not money for child care.
Obama knows..he has lived it. I believe he will invite the voice of the common person into his White House… He won't forget his roots. I really WANT him to be a new beginning…a REAL CHANGE>
Noah,
On Tonight's David Gregory show, will you please show the film clip of Sen. Clinton throwing a gutter ball on the Ellen DeGeneres Show recently. The media provided Barak Obama with a lot of negative publicity as a result of his gutter ball bowling in Altoona, PA. Shouldn't the media give Sen. Clinton to the same publicity? I don't believe this film clip of Sen. Clinton bowling has been shown on a cable news network.
Thanks!

Race08: (David Gregory read Maureen Dowd's column on his show. I think Maureen is sick. Her rants are more rabid and over the top than anything the Clinton's could or would conceive. I'll miss reading her stuff, but until she takes herself in hand and stops obsessing - forget it. If she can't do it herself, let her get help.
