If there was one person who could attempt to trump NBC Sports' lead golf analyst Johnny Miller anti-Italian remarks against Rocco Mediate, it's none other than America's Favorite Racist Don Imus. On this morning's show, Imus & Co. were discussing suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, who wants to drop his nickname. During the segment, one of his cohorts (perhaps Warner Wolfe?) tells Imus that Jones has “been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.” Asks Imus: "What color is he?” Response: "He’s African-American." You know where this is going.
Concludes Imus: "Well, there you go. Now we know.”
Imus, of course, made headlines last April when he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos," and was summarily kicked off his CBS Radio show and MSNBC simulcast. By December 3, he was back on the air, this time with Citadel, which signed Imus to a multi-year gig. The only question now is whether this year's racist statement will get him into the same trouble as last year. We're guessing no — and hopefully that says more about Imus' turn toward irrelevancy than it does the media's turning a cheek.
(Audio is here, in case you need convincing Imus was doing more than making a simple observation about skin color.)

I thought Rutgers thing was really overblown when it happened.
This, on the other hand, is something he really should lose his job for - if nothing else, for the sheer stupidity of it…
I too wasn't so offended by the first remark he made - although i definitely could see how it could be taken as such. But with this comment, it's obvious that his first one was racial as is this one. No respect for people like this. But, it seems to be the norm in America. Everyone hates each other mainly for superficial and ignorant reasons
Welcome to America, where its not where your from, its what color your skin is…….
As a black American I was actually defending this cro-magnum moron because I felt the basketball thing was over the top, but this is just stupid.
In a country where a dime bag (10 grams) of weed will get a yound black male on his first strike 6 - 10 years in jail, we have guys working on their FIFTH (yes fifth) DUI…HOW do you even get past the second, let alone the third!!!
I'm no advocate for Drugs but I'm saying our "Justice" system is about as blind as a eagle hunting prey in the noon day. So saying that just because he's black that explains everything is about as educated a remark as a simpleton can make.
Pacman is an Idiot, dont get me wrong, but Imus' statement pushes him to the leader of Knucklehead Village.
He was funny before and he's even funnier now. Screw you if you can't take a joke…..
And I'm certainly not a racist…..I love niggers - doesn't everyone?
If Imus is fired for this than Charles Barkely should have been fired hundreds of times. Stop trying to be mind readers. George Carlin is spinning in his casket right now over this.
I hate Imus BUT——if you read other articles he responded to an e-mail questioning his response—-he was merely saying he was being picked on because of his race—-not that his race had something to do with the crimes—-I think Imus gets a free pass on this one—-there really was no harm involved
Go IMUS…what we really need is "Freedom of Hearing…NOT freedom of speech. There is no freedom of speech…we should be able to hear whatever the hell we want to hear. What did you expect??? Pacman Jones is a real piece of shit. But that news don't fly. Ims on the other hand…he can't take a shit without being called a racist. Face it America…we're ALL racists…don't you get it…each and everyone of us is a racist. We don't need to combat it…we just need to know how to handle it.
ABC better show a little back bone and stand strong. If the comment offended you I'm sorry for you, but there is a right to freedom of speech in this country. Nowhere does it say you cant offend people. I wish Imus had an audience half the size of the mass of idiots that crawl out of the woodwork to comment about something they didn't hear in the first place(self included). Hopefully its a slow news week, unlike the last time, and this will fall to the side as the nothing issue that it is.
Those who listen to Imus remember when he was a strong supporter of Rep. Harold Ford's run for senator of Tennessee. Ford lost in a year when democrats one virtually and Imus stated his opinion forcefully that racism in Tennessee was the reason for his narrow loss.
Imus, narcissist supreme, will point out any thing which confirms and agrees with his declarations.
A black football player arrested 6 times since with the Tennessee Titans is a case in point.
Go Don.. Gotta hand it to him. He tells it like it is..
Fuck Pacman Jones…fuck Al Sharpton…fuck Obamba too!!!
The segment appears to have had a common theme with earlier segments. While talking about Tiger Woods winning the U.S. Open, Imus asked about the race of runner-up Rocco Mediate.
If people dislike what Imus says simply do not listen. When his ratings fall he will be taken off the air. Sorry folk all the attention just gives the man job security. Freedom of speach means every speach unless it endangers or defames a person. From the sounds of it he did not do that so there is not a lot anyone can do. Just ignore the man already and get a thicker skin. We all know there are morons out there you just have to not listen to them.
Remember Joe Pyne? Imus, Limbaugh, all the other old white and black know-it-all's are of a type - that type. I think they are becoming far less relevant as time goes by - thankfully. I believe our great nation is turning away from those woeful, hoary, toxic types and toward a better more optimistic and thoughtful self. There will always be bullies and bores like Imus, Sharpton and the like, but their audience will be on the margin, not the mainstream.
Meanness, cruelty, anger, and other such bad things are what make Imus funny. He hates you, you hate him, he insults you, you joke about how old he is and how he'll die soon, and how his wife must hate him.
When Imus tries to be a goody-two shoes, he puts me to sleep. When he tried to apologize for the Rutgers controversy, I thought I would puke, he sounded like a toothless old lion.
If you want to hate him, go ahead, that's part of the show, but don't censor him because he said something that offends your over-sensitive sensibilities. Don't take the rotten old bastard off the air!
They guys who says we're ALL racists has a really good point. It's just a common human foible, a basic instinct that is very hard to break. All humans are afraid of "others," people outside their group. We came from an environment in which people lived only with their extended families. Now we live in big cities with all different kinds of people and we still have the same prehistoric instincts and fears. We need to learn how to cope with it and keep it under control. I think the people who swear they're NOT racists are in denial. There's nothing inhuman about being racist–just get a grip. Imus needs to get a grip. All human beings deserve a modicum of basic respect.
For one, it's become a common cliché that many NFL players have criminal records, and it seems like at least once a month, there's a new legal controversy for some player in the league. Black, white, or otherwise, it's become commonplace to tie NFL football with off-the-field criminal activity.
i'm not sure exactly what reasoning people have for finding THIS comment more offensive than comparing the Rutgers girls to hookers.
Personally, Imus has been LONG irrelevant, which is all the more reason he should be removed from the air permanently. Ignoring him doesn't make the ignorant d-bags that listen to him go away.
Why is it so important for the media to want this guy silenced? Its scary that they have 5 minutes to spend on this and not on the real problems that are affecting us. If Imus is so bad then why was George Carlin so good? His great standup was much more racial than this. The nfl has at least 1 crime a week now. Just go to http://www.nflcrimes.com and you will see whats going on. The media won't talk about it because the nfl makes tons of money for abc, cbs, fox, and nbc.
He's been under the radar since getting fired, he must need better ratings and more attention. Anyway he's an idiot, as are the blatantly racist people here who have commented, you know who you are.
Walter Williams (who is BLACK) penned the following articles:
According to Bureau of Justice statistics, between 1976 and 2005, blacks, while 13 percent of the population, committed over 52 percent of the nation's homicides…

Blacks twice as likely to commit hate crimes…

I'm just surprised at how it's supposed to be some huge shocker that Imus is a racist. Yeah guys, the sky is blue, too.
I like how it's supposed to be some big shocker that Imus is racist, given his history. Guess what? The sky is blue, too.
oops.
