MSNBC may have one regular Air America correspondent on its airwaves, but shockingly the host who called Hillary Clinton a "big fucking whore" was not her! It was Randi Rhodes, here with Bill Clinton, and she said it during a speech at an Air America event where she appeared on behalf of her employer, and a video clip of it popped up on YouTube.
Now the radio network has canned Rhodes, suspending her indefinitely, which means Air America now has three hours of daily programming it's gonna need to figure out.
In a statement, Air America's Charlie Kireker said: "Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts."
Rhodes hasn't yet updated her website about the ordeal, but we imagine the words "sorry" and "apology" will appear in there somewhere if she hopes to return to air.

I have yet to understand why we, as progressives, can't agree that we have two amazing candidates.
Yes, Obama will probably get the nomination, however, there is no need to demonize Bill and Hillary Clinton in order to support Obama.
We will need both of them to help the party get back together to win in November.
Rhodes, Huffington, Winfrey, Dowd, and other women with some level of power seem to have a level of hatred for Senator Clinton like I have never seen.
I so agree with Jack - if Democrats are so fickle and paranoid that they can't agree to vote for ONE of these excellent democtratic nominees - wichever one is our choice, then maybe they don't deserve their party in office. This is a wonderful time in politics, the process and laws seem to be working for a change. Let these two candidates EACH have their say, let's go to the Democratic Convention excited and thrilled because maybe we won't know who our nominee will be till after the convention. Isn't this why we HAVE a convention? Isn't this why we CREATED Superdelegates? I agree with Bill Clinton - the party will be fine, if we can keep the media out of the way. Barack and Hillary are both wonderful - we'll be fortunate with either one.
This is awful. This is one Obama dem that is not laughing.
Remember, in Soviet America you can express yourself, as long as you express yourself in a Party approved way even when you're "off the air" at a private event doing a comedy skit — especially if a Party apparatchnik happens to own the radio network that you're going out on.
Rumor has it that AAR has been trying to get rid of Randi ever since new CEO Charlie Kireker (a prominent Clinton supporter) came on board because she did not properly comply with the Party's pro-Clinton line. So it goes. We must have ideological purity in the Party, da?

Rhodes though, is on a network whose job it is to get Dems elected, and that includes Clinton. I don't think it was the attack so much as it was an attack on Hillary. If she'd called Ann Coulter a whore, she'd still have her job.
Nobody should be shocked by this. Rhodes has told "Kill Bush" jokes on-air. In fact, chew on that for a bit: Tell "Kill Bush" jokes on-air, and you don't get fired (or even arrested). Call Hillary Clinton a (bleeping) whore off-air, and you get suspended. Eh???
