On The Scene: Fortune's 25 Is Black, White, And Rich All Over

To help welcome incoming editor-in-chief Andy Sewer and honor "The Fortune 25: Portraits of Power," Fortune magazine and Time Inc. chief John Huey rounded up the business media elite, a couple of guys who started a little video sharing site, a handsome fella who runs a stock exchange, and plenty of Grey Goose for an evening of staring at black and white photos projected onto blank walls at the Chelsea Art Museum. After the jump, the fun continues with a whole lot of photos of people staring at the black and white photos projected onto blank walls for you to stare at.

New York Post-to-Fortune transplant Tim Arango looks dapper in his "perfectly manicured to look like it didn't take three hours of trimming" beard. It doesn't hurt that he's flanked by Victoria Will and a hypnosis-inducing Carmine Tiso from Time Inc.

CNN Money's Greg Schwartz, Time Inc.'s Andy Borinstein, Fortune VP of business development Hilary Vartanian and Syracuse University program coordinator Scott McDowell were an exercise in getting faces matched to names, jobs.

NYT business scribe Richard Siklos takes a break from lauding Barry Diller to chat with CNN Money's Chris Peacock about what comes after the wine: Jagerbombs or Patron body shots.

Nielsen's Jennifer Zervigon and Karen Watson were running a little late. They had to give Katie Couric some more bad news.

One of these three works at Fortune. The other two are back from bondage sleepaway camp.

New Fortune EIC Andy Serwer is as surprised as you that he landed the job.

Oprah and Gayle King have nothing on these "special friends."

Time Inc. chief John Huey shares embarrassing tales of new Fortune editor Andy Serwer, like the time when his American Express was rejected at Target.

Amy Wicks, here with Josh Dessauer, counters the notion that Women's Wear Daily media gals always hunt in packs.

You just caught a glimpse at Time Inc. editor-in-chief John Huey's required 5-minutes of face time with corporate brass Wayne Pace and Peter Wolff. New Line Cinema's Steve Abramson, right, wandered away quickly.

CNN Money's Jim Ledbetter and Fortune's Jim Aley are jubliant to be writing stories about people with FICO scores they can only dream of.

Matt Sawyer and Ogilvy's Todd Heyman don't realize that, just like on MySpace, Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson (in the background) know your every friend request.

Albert Watson, right, is the fella responsible for snapping photos of Fortune's 25, otherwise known as the folks who can, and will, try to buy and sell you on the over-the-counter stock exchange.

Grey Goose's Nicole Atallan Portwood is here to make sure the free booze keeps flowing. Nicole? Mission accomplished.

These are the smiles of Time Inc.'s Hugh Wiley and Lisa Coffey. They're brighter thanks to Crest and the fact that they made it through the job cuts.

Fortune's Peter Granath and Fordham's Dr. Howard P. Tuckman feel like lesser men knowing Rupert Murdoch's staring at them from one of those black and white wall projections.

Fast Company EIC Mark Vamos and Trader Monthly EIC Randall Lane take every opportunity to show they're the new Power "It" Couple. Not in the gay way, you ass.

Fortune's Roger Parloff and WSGR's Courtney Dorma raise a glass to Toyota chief Katsuaki Watanabe, Fed chairman Ben Bernakke, Wal-Mart's Lee Scott, and NYSE chief John Thain — all of whom made better career decisions than they.

Hot off her best lede all season, the Times' Claudia Deutsch considers when it would be socially appropriate to ask Fordham's Howard Tuckman to remove the snake that's strangling her.

Shiraz's Shai Tertner and USA Networks' Chris Williamson give the pretty bartenders a run for their jawlines.

You can thank Tanja Weingartner, Trevor Vowden, and Tasja Keetman for styling the looks of each one of Fortune's notables, from Condi Rice to the YouTube founders. And each other.

There were famous and powerful people there, you see. Most of them just happened to appear in 2-D on the walls.
