Oprah's Obama Endorsement: Bad For … Oprah
Bonnie Fuller predicted the future

barackoprah.jpg While many will point to the moment Oprah announced her endorsement as Barack Obama as the game changing moment when he became a truly viable Hillary Clinton crusher, few have taken the time to see what the impact Oprah's public support has had on her own image. For starters, it hasn't been good. She's taken a hit in the closely watched "favorable impression" category. Pre-Obama endorsement, polls found some 74 percent of Americans held her in positive esteem; post-endorsement, that number dropped to a staggering 61 percent. And then to 55 percent. And then her "unfavorable impression" score jumped to 1 in 3 Americans. And perhaps most telling of all: In the meantime, Ellen DeGeneres approval rating – at least according to an unscientific AOL TV popularity survey that asked which daytime TV host "made their day" – stood at 46 percent; Oprah was just 19 percent. Let it be said, Bonnie Fuller knew this was going to happen.

That's a big assumption to make–that one endorsement could possibly account for a 20-point decrease in popularity. The fact is that Oprah takes on much more politicized issues than Ellen, who constantly talks about not wanting to get political. People didn't like the Thomas Beatie show; they don't know what to make of the abuse scandal at Oprah's school in Africa. Meanwhile, all Ellen has had going is something about a dog, and being nice to Danny Noriega.

The fact remains that Oprah, unlike Ellen, is willing to put herself out there, to take on contraversial issues and to try to open the American publics' eyes about things like being trans, etc. In general, the American public doesn't tend to appreciate being yanked out of their ignorance.

Before you make the leap from endorsement to statistics, you need to find out when those numbers were taken, how many people were polled, what party those people subscribe to, and what questions were asked in the polling. Reading statitistics is tricky at best; you can't claim cause and effect in such a broad manner and hope to be at all accurate.

Oprah has also been promoting some "New Age guru," Eckhart Tolle, espousing the idea that Jesus is just a symbol, which has likely turned off many viewers.

Oprahs ratings, I believe, have gone down due to her taking on the role of spiritual leader to to world. when she said that jesus could not possible be the only way to God she lost many christians who watch. who is she or tolle for that matter to be speaking of spiritual matters. meet with someone who has a personal relationship with jesus, who's life has been transformed by God, the God of the Bible, then and only then will you know the truth.
