The lawsuit filed by paparazzi agency X17 against celeb blogger Perez Hilton isn't the only round of copyright infringement entertainment headed your way. Now a consortium of photog agencies, led by Splash News, are taking the No. 1 publicist frenemy to court. Flanked by INF, Ramey, Bauer Griffin, WENN, Most Wanted, and Flynet, this seven-some claim to have "spent the last few weeks conferring over how to stop Hilton. In an unprecedented co-operation between paparazzi and showbusiness agencies, the heads of the agencies agreed to take action." But isn't Perez protected under the satire defense by drawing coke dots and drool on their pictures?
Its so typical for people to hate someone like Perez Hilton. Just when someone excells at something, people conspire to take them down. To make it worse, I've posted things on other sites and they dont even post them, just because I stand up for him. Viva La Perez!!
We love the paparazzi but they are out to lunch if they think they can win this lawsuit.
The only people who have the right to profit from the likeness of celebrities are the celebrities. The paparazzi are in a gray area. But when the paparazzi LICENSE the right to use pictures of celebrities AND DON'T PAY CELEBRITIES ROYALTIES, the paparazzi are dealing in stolen material.
By filing a lawsuit in federal court, the paparazzi are giving a court of law the power to regulate the paparazzi.
