Pat O'Brien's Staff Email Adds Bullet Point to His CV of Crazy

God we love this guy

Pat O'Brien, the anchor-cum-correspondent (that's a demotion) for The Insider, has a history with oversharing. Mostly, it's been in the form of voicemails, like when he tells a woman that he wants to get crazy, get some coke, and do things to her that eventually appeared in Verne Troyer's sex tape. And now, the sometimes-recovering alcoholic ups the ante with a staffer email that takes shots at Lara Spencer, who's solo-hosting the show after effectively pushing him out.

In a weekend email sent to both of CBS' tabloid shows, The Insider and Entertainment Tonight, O'Brien rants about Logan and head fashion stylist Anya Sarre's segment "Looks For Less," where the ladies tell viewers how to achieve their looks — which are afforded thanks to wardrobe budgets — without overspending.

Having "just spent a couple of days in Iowa," Pat is now a man of the people, who "can't afford gas, books, food or schools or movies! … I was approached a hundred times by people asking, 'Can you help us?' I tried to tell them we care, but they didn't buy it. They wanted to, but watching Anya and Lara [Spencer] pick out accessories makes the viewers want to vomit. I'll get killed for this, but I'm actually the one not afraid for my job. I want people to be happy."

And … we're sort of loving this. O'Brien, who's spent most of his career chronicling the glamorous lives of celebrities, actually is a man of the people. He's struggled with common plights like drug and alcohol abuse, sex addiction, and now, materialism. Though O'Brien would've preferred it not happen this way — what with those voicemails — he's become the most accessible celebrity gossip personality on TV. We like us some Logan, and definitely some Mary Hart, but we can't see ourselves as either of them. O'Brien? Now that's a guy we'd want to grab a beer with. Well, a non-alcoholic one for Pat.

I agree 100% with you Pat…that rampant materialism does make me want to vomit…and guess what? I haven't watched your show for years. The cringe started long before those bimbos started to get more air-time than you.

Move on…

Everyone stumbles, but Pat O'Brien is a good man and, in fact, is a candidate for the "Robert Goulet Mustached American of the Year" award which you can read about here: http://www.americanmustacheins.....fYear.aspx
