Budget Travel, the magazine for fiscally responsible travelers who probably stay in hostels, lost its oft-disliked editor Erik Torkells in June. Now, we're told Nina Willdorf is taking the top job. Who's she? Well, Wildorf wrote the book City Chic: An Urban Girl’s Guide to Livin’ Large on Less, where she writes about how she spent a whole month buying single cups of drip coffee, then opted to buy her own beans and grind them at home, and realized the second option was much cheaper! If frugality is the top criteria for running the magazine, she's, um, got it? Wildorf, actually, is the former editor of Girlfriend Getaways, the BT spin-off, who fled to Travel + Leisure in 2006 during a BT bloodletting.
I stopped subscribing to Budget Travel when they canned Arthur Frommer!!
