Peons Promise: Architectual Digest Will Be Hottest Thing Since No Carb Bread

Mary's Finds

We at Jossip know that being an assistant to an EIC at a magazine is a pretty crappy job. Not that any of us have ever technically held that title, but, we've observed the utter shame that occurs within this lowly position. And, you know, we saw (not read) the Devil Wears Prada.

Which is why we are thrilled to hear that Mary Padian, the assistant to Architectual Digest's EIC Paige Rense, is getting a job that may actual use some of the talent she probably has. This little assistant has started her own vlog (yes, we mean vlog, not blog) on the AD site. It's called Mary's Finds and features assistant Mary's great houseware finds. And the best part? She doesn't have to videotape her sex life to keep her job! From Mary's very quote-y e-mail:

Each monthly video showcases some interesting furniture, shops, and more. In the intro, I explain that although I've worked first hand with the world's best designers, and have learned what "great design is," I am "living on a budget … in a shoebox … so I have learned how to make it work…"

This is the first step Architectural Digest has made to reach out to a younger, hipper, and tech savvy-ier audience

We tried to watch the intro, but, we're in a public place and (gasp) forgot our headphones. Anyways, we're just really excited that a) a magazine assistant was willing to write to us b) Mary thinks her blog is hip and we think that's adorable, c) she is not reduced to writing about the guys she's sleeping with, and c) we've discovered "conversation cushions."
