What is the single most important issue to Mexicans illegally crossing the U.S. border? Not finding food and water, an under the table job, or paying off their trafficker, but eating a hamburger that might've been made from the inhumane slaughter of a cow!
PETA, the animal rights group about as delirious as the Parents Television Council, is hoping to plaster the Mexico-U.S. border fence with ads that alert jumpers that "If the Border Patrol Doesn't Get You, the Chicken and Burgers Will — Go Vegan."
Why the ridiculous marketing message? Says PETA: "We think that Mexicans and other immigrants should be warned if they cross into the U.S. they are putting their health at risk by leaving behind a healthier, staple diet of corn tortillas, beans, rice, fruits and vegetables."
Meanwhile:
Some blogs aren't just appalled by PETA's pitch to folks with more pressing matters, but that the posters they're hoping to slap on the border fence are racist. Says Feministing: "Without even getting into what's fucked up about the message they are trying to send about meat consumption and mexican vs american culture, let's begin with the images on the ad, which are borderline racist and definitely offensive to me. Then how about supporting the screwed up US immigration policy by BUYING ad space on these fences? News flash PETA: promoting animal rights through misogyny, racism and the objectification of women is NOT the way to go."

Yeah …. because Mexicans are known for not eating lots of pollo taquitos, carne asada burritos, and other meat. And doesn't PETA know that slaughterhouses on this side of the border are a heck of a lot cleaner and more humane than those in Mexico?
Clueless. Completely clueless.
Where are they warned that cock fighting and dog fighting are illegal in the US?
PETA is so f'ing stupid. Their "messages" are always lame and one's like this especially make me want to barf up the chicken burrito I had for lunch. And it was good.
Get a new ad agency, PETA. Or heck, just shut-up.
I've seen PETA do some pretty questionable things but nothing this dumb. The plight of factor farmed animals is indeed atrocious (see http://meat.org) but this seems to be just a waste of paper as far as I can tell. The animal advocacy movement is very poorly represented unfortunately. In the end it really harms the animals.
I can't help but laugh at this story!!! FIRST OFF ALL THE PEOPLE COMIING OVER CAN NOT READ ENGLISH !!! DUH!!!!
Screw you PETA i;m a mexican and how bout i eat you instedad of tthat red meat and use your pubic hair to make me a fur coat !!!
