Pittsburgh Cop Killer Unsurprisingly a Big Fan Of Glenn Beck

As much as Fox's newest carnival barker Glenn Beck likes to stir up the "us versus them" terrorism rhetoric a lot, but maybe he needs to clarify exactly who he's talking about when he speaks of these evil "others." Because Richard Andrew Poplawski, the man who killed 3 cops in a dispute about where his dog was pissing this weekend, watched a lot of Glenn Beck, and was getting very, very paranoid.

Ironically, the gun that Poplawski used to kill police officers after Glenn Beck told him he was going to lose his gun privileges once the Mexican/Jew/Obama cabal took over was illegally buried in his backyard. Which sort of makes him the terrorist—and Glenn Beck the guy who fueled the conspiracy-theory fire.

i think you're missing the point fan, glenn beck's rhetoric is exciting some of the masses that listen to him. there are repercussions to the hysteria he dishes out. while it's not his 'fault' this madman went violent, i think he is perpetrating this mentality of "the world going to hell in a handbasket, so stockpile your guns and fight against a socialist america". just as if rev. wright caused a riot with his insane preachings, and you can bet people would be pointing a finger at him. you have to keep it in perspective, there are glenn beck listeners who aren't as savvy as you and are buying into what he's selling.

Careful are you advocating restriction of free speech? If that's the case then should we take every statement made by Keith Olberman literally? So now Glenn Beck is to blame for this man's actions? Good Grief!

again, read my post. i clearly stated it was NOT glenn beck's fault this guy was a madman. what he should take responsibility for is his constant state of paranoia on his show. i think he knows his demographic and puts on a show, but needs to dial it back a notch because people are on edge with the state of things and f=don't need to get whipped into a frenzy on a daily basis.

no i do not believe in restricting free speech. i would say the exact same thing about keith olbermann if he was a doomsday prophet.

@weezy: The world is flipping and everyone is looking for someone to blame. Isn't that the whole modus operandi of the media??

Ironic how we forget about how the entertainment industry has been glorifying murder since the early days of TV (Gunsmoke, Mannix, Hart-to-Hart, Murder She Wrote, CSI etc.)
The movie critics glorify movies of violence and mayhem yet belittle family movies (what/when was the last G rated movie to win an Oscar - answer since the MPAA Rating were established, there has been none).
RAP music glorifies murder, assault and drug use.
The evening news always starts out with all of the bad things going on around us and hardly ever reports much of anything else.
So now the neophyte media needs new whipping boys to cover for their generations of wrecking the socio-strata.

Don't you see that as being some what hypocritical Weez??

DTOM - for every finger pointing there are three pointing back.

Bam and Weezy,

I understand your points, however, where was all the concern when filmmakers actually made a movie depicting Bush being shot in the stomach. Craig Ferguson had a skit showing a bullseye on Bush's back. Now its your guy and we need to be concerned about violence. SNL barely makes a joke about him, the hardest question the news media ask him is what kind of dog are they getting and he needs a telepromter for that. A couple killed some people after watching "Natural Born Killers" kids died after seeing stupid stuts on jackass. I always thought it was against the law to make threats against the President, but in Bush's case it was alright, so basically, I say it's Karma, what goes around comes around, deal with it. Obama has black skin so you can't make movies about shooting him, NOT PC, the white guy no problem. Based on the treatment of George Bush, we have a long, long, long ways to go before we worry about Glenn Beck.

We should have acted after that nut tried to kill President Reagan to get a date with Jodie Foster. Jodie never should have been allowed to make a film again as she was a spark just waiting for an explosion.

@Rhonda: Rhonda, you have a good point, too. There IS a huge PC issue when it comes to depicting white guys being blown away by other white guys and the same treatment doled out to black guys at the hands of whites. I've noticed that blacks are killed mainly by other blacks, but I don't see any enraged blacks demanding law enforcement putting an end to that particular crime wave. I still think Rev. Wright and Beck or anybody else who encourage people to be paranoid ought to step back and consider how far reaching their rantings actually are and maybe tone it down a bit. As for Bush, well, he's kind of an exception in a way - KIND of. No bullseye should ever be depicted on a president and I actually thought that would entail a visit from the Secret Service. If mentioning the word 'bomb' in an airport will land you in a locked room, then so should a visual of killing the president.

Ferguson did receive a visit from the Secret Service, but basically got a slap on the wrist and told to knock it off. Bush laughed off both as being the price of free speech.

Why is Bush an exception?

great analogy. i do think in desperate times it's easier to influence people who are down and out and crazy.

i don't think anyone should joke about killing our president, even one i didn't like (bush).

bam-a-lam said "I still think Rev. Wright and Beck or anybody else who encourage people to be paranoid ought to step back and consider how far reaching their rantings actually are and maybe tone it down a bit." i agree.

if the beach boys encouraged charles manson to kill white people to incite a race riot and he did it, then the beach boys have to answer for that. interestingly, charles manson didn't participate in the murders, but TOLD his followers to do them, so i guess he's answering for his rhetoric.

Manson is not paying for his rhetoric, he is paying for his crimes! He didn't participate in the murders but he did PLAN them, he was the "mastermind" if you will, behind them.

So things are just deperate now? will the hypocrisy ever end. When they make a movie about killing Obama and put a bullseye on his back, then we will talk about what's going to far, until then, all's fair. Karma, baby!

@Rhonda: actually, Manson said he got the inspiration for the killings from the Beatles White Album. Again the liberal tendency is to always look for a scapegoat reason to blame someone or something when killings take place.

Beatles don't kill people, people kill people.

@weezy: Well gee maybe you should listen to Eric Holder the attorney gen. He wants to ban assult weapons and my friend that is how gun control starts. I think he is in Obamas band of brothers. You need to read the constitution. Holder is blaming the guns the illegal drug lords are using on America. Wrong we don't even sell guns like that, they are black market guns from Your pals in Russia and China. So he is trying to pin the blame anyway he can on the USA and its gun laws. Also, I listen to Beck all the time and guess what he has never, never said anything even close to what is printed in this so called news blog.

manson preached to his 'family'. his rhetoric inspired them to commit the crimes they committed, although he did not actually pull a trigger. and he is justly paying for his crimes.

yes, times are desperate. people are desperate. if they are being preached to about how obama is going to take away their right to bear arms, that their government is failing them, that they need to be fearful because their country is turning into a socialist regime, etc. then you see a series of looneys who happen to start committing desperate acts of violence. and the common denominator is they all listen to the same prophet of doom. perhaps that said prophet should tone down the rhetoric.

the same people who bring their obama venom into every article (even unrelated ones like octomom and levi johnston) can't stand to have the last administration claiming their legacy of failure. the rationalization is priceless. everything is obama's fault somehow.

i am not anit-gun, but i am anti-assault weapons, and from what i have read-in 2004 george bush let the ban on assault weapons expire-so they ARE on the american market:
