Postie Andy Geller Suspended for Plagiarism

New York Post

Remember the "Gotcha!" cover from the New York Post which ran the day after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was captured and killed? You know, the "warm up the virgins" cartoon bubble that is still giving us nightmares? Well, the journo who wrote that article, Post reporter Andy Geller, has been suspended.

Not for the highly offensive cover, of course, but because he plagiarized entire sections of the piece from the New York Times. The reporter pulled the text from the Times website on June 8, 2006. The story ran June 9.

The New York Post told reporter Andy Geller not to come to work for a month after the newspaper discovered he copied massive sections of an article from The New York Times, sources at the Post confirmed yesterday.

The hardest working man at the Post, spokesman Howard Rubenstein, is declining the Daily News comment, as is the Times. And in copletely unrelated gossip, which the News just can't resist pointing out, this news comes one day after the routine questioning going on at the Post in the wake of Jared Paul Stern.

Ha! Excuse me but just who is this cover offensive to? Islamic insane murderers? Slaughterers who take particular pleasure in beheading Americans, both civilians and soldiers and other Muslim innocents?Israelis? or virgins? Hopefully the virgins they get to screw are from their own tribe.
I think the cover is wonderful and right on target. I just wish we had a way to channel Al Jazeera (sp?) and splash it on the screens of televions all over the Arab world.
