Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Halberstam, 73, died yesterday in a three-car collision in California's Bay Area. Perhaps best known for his Vietnam War reporting for the NYT and sports coverage, David received the full-court R.I.P. press from the media. Here's how they fared:

NPR: "A Reporter's Memories of Writer David Halberstam"

AP: "David Halberstam, Author and Reporter, Dies at 73"

Harvard Crimson: "'A Very Good College Journalist'"

Reuters: "Author David Halberstam killed in car crash"

And then there's the blogs:

Seattleist: "David Halberstam Dead in a Car Crash, Which Is Bullshit"
