to the haters, amy winehouse can only say, 'no, no, no'

I don't think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together. … We have to stop rewarding bad behavior. … I'm sorry. I think the girl is talented, gifted, but it's not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too. She needs to get herself together.

They rewarded her talent not her bad behavior.
To me it is far worse when lame, untalented people win because they are commercial and safe.
Frank Sinatra
Billy Holiday
Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.
Have all had drug problems, it did make them less talented.
Janet, I wholeheartedly agree.
It's ridiculous to read this coming from a 60-something year old woman who was so messed up in her younger years that her mother had to partition the courts to make her controller of Natalie Cole's finances, because of her drug abuse. Lay off the "Holier Than Thou" attitude, Nat!
Amy Winehouse is a great talent; a breath of fresh air in an industry of "Same old, Same old". All the rappers sound alike, all the pretty black chicks sound alike, all the pop princes and princesses sound alike, all the groups sound alike.
And then there's Amy with her Motown/Spector sound, her little low cut, short dress, beehive, 50's eyemakeup and great songs that SHE WROTE and great production. Hey, even when she sings to an acoustical guitar as her only backup. She's fab!
And for anyone who's had the privilege and pleasure of seeing her perform in person, like I have in Boston, she's modest, engaging, cute, funny, and very sweet with her audience and her band and backup singers. I love her and hope that she stays well.
Natalie won three Grammys in the mid-1970s when she was doing heroin and God knows what else. 'Nuff said.
