Don’t tell me you don’t want to talk about personal life when you wrote a book about your father’s death and your brother’s death. You can’t move this big mass of personal stuff out for public display, then people ask questions and you say, "Oh, no, I didn’t say there was going to be any questions." It’s the same thing as the Bush administration saying, "We’re going to war, but you really aren’t allowed to know why." [...]
Don’t tell me you can’t talk about your personal life and then, when they send you overseas and you do a report that consists of your voice-over and pictures of you in a custom-made, blue-to-match-your-eyes bulletproof vest, looking somberly at these scenes of human devastation—like a tourist—and that’s your report. Your shtick is your personal life.
— Gossip item regular and MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann, in this week's New York, on Anderson Cooper refusing to talk about his private life
His brother's and father's death are NOT his private life, his Mom made them public at when they happened, so they were already out there for public consumption BEFORE he became a celebrity.
Too bad that he didn't stay at 7:00 and keep the funny show that he used to have, I liked it much better and he appeared to be happier then. He didn't look like he was having much fun last night at all.
You know what I find offensive? That Keith Olbermann, who has never been to Iraq, who didn't go to New Orleans after Katrina, who never stepped foot out of the studio period, thinks he has a right to criticize Anderson Cooper and make up lies about him. He had a bulletproof vest specifically made that will highlight his eyes? Prove it Olbermann! And please tell me why Brian Williams was wearing an identical blue bulletproof vest when he went to Iraq last month.
AC is a public figure, he was born to famous parents, into one of America's most famous families. People ask him about the death of his father and his brother's suicide all the time. So what if he wrote about it. To say that he's doing it to get a ratings ploy from someone who isn't fit to wear AC's jockstrap is a joke.
Wow, MS is a little too emotionally involved here.
Stand back the rabid AC fans are out and unmedicated.
And you mention the exact same comment that Carol Pillowhead/CoopedUp/Truth Out has been spouting all over the internet about the bulletproof vest.
The Andersphere needs to find some charity work to do.
If you think Anderson's gay and he'll never be with you, (like he would anyway), why are you here defending Anderson? He won't address it, he will take the high road and ignore it but you can't, why? Why does it matter to your drab little life? Why dont' you go email Jon Klein about this like you all have about those fake pictures of his apartment that Christian put on his site?
Oh and if you think Klein is so great here's a comment from him "I worship him, I want to be him!" said about Kiefer Sutherland. Now tell me he ain't bat shit crazy. Straight men don't talk about other straight men that way.
Oh, look - it's the former Mrs. Klein again. Alimony not keeping you in the style you'd like to stay accustomed, dear?
Wow, "real" Cooperite… MEOW. Why don't you worry about yourself and get back on your meds before you go around bad mouthing others.
Wow, MS is a little too emotionally involved here.
Oh, this is hilarious coming from "Cooperite"/"Reality Check", who NEVER FAILS to hone in on a way to spew their insane hatred of Anderson Cooper, Jon Klein, CNN, Andersphere and anyone else who makes a mildly supportive comment about Anderson Cooper. Take your own advice, stay off the net and do something constructive, like getting the psychiatric help you are so desperately in need of.
I'd say only Anderson Cooper can make the determination of what he wants to disclose to the public. If all he wishes to speak about are his father, brother and mom, so be it. That's his right.
I like KeithO better when the far more deserving BillO is the target of his wrath. Even the NY magazine writer realizes that Keith is a bit off the mark in attacking Anderson Cooper.
Cooperite is also completly wrong about one thing: I'm not an AC fan. There are far better anchors in the world than Cooper, he tends to stumble over his own tongue on air and use "uhm" way too much for that. But Olbermann was just offensive in his statements because he's well known for never, ever going into the field to report a story unless it's sports-related. Cooper has at least had the guts to go into danger zones, something that Olbermann refuses to do. And his attacks on Cooper are just bizarre. That entire NY article in fact reveals Olbermann to be something less than sane.
Why the comment "I like KeithO better when the far more deserving BillO is the target of his wrath?" Why even bring BillO up? Is it because he and all the other Fox hosts dwarf both those doofuses in the ratings? It's funny how TV Guide and all the other media make a big deal about AC and KO. I thought they were supposed to write about all the media. If they were truly unbiased, they'd cover the cable hosts who actually have people watching. And you all prove the point when you bring BillO into a discussion that is solely about two low-rated cable hosts.
BillO, is the TRUE definition of a doofus. TV Guide is right for NOT talking about that pompous asshole in favor of Cooper.
