Woodruff's reporting packs an emotional punch because he is, quite simply, a man who cheated death. Never before had an anchor for an American broadcast network been injured in war. Woodruff instantly became a symbol of the dangers that journalists face in Iraq, and is trying to use his higher profile to illuminate the plight of soldiers who struggle with these injuries far from the spotlight.

–Howard Kurtz via the Washington Post, discussing ABC World News Tonight's former anchor, Bob Woodruff, and his dramatic return to television.

hi,
I really was haooy to see Bob Woodruff for the first time after his accident. I really loved the program that ABC aired last night about th e aftermat of brain injury and how it involves not only the patients but everbody and everything that surrounds that person.
I am also a person that is very blessed whom ack in sept. 2003 had a TBI along with surgery for evacuation of a hematoma whose life changed in a split second, from being a mother, wife, employee…. normal life but living w/ a mild case of MS. since that accident my and my families life hasa been going in a spiral and coping w/ the fact that I had TBI due to an accident on the job is only a spec of problems that I have to deal w/on a daily basis starting w/ my handicap condition ,parapeligia, seizures, or should I say " ALL THE TYPICAL MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT TBI CAN CAUSE" AND ON TOP OF THAT AGGRAVATING MY MS CONDITION , LAWYERS, INSURANCE, MEDICAL NECCESSITY , 24 HR. ATTENDANT CARE, …. BUT ABOVE IT ALL ALWAYS BEING QUESTIONED WHETHER MY PHYSICAL & MEDICAL CONDITION WAS ALL DUE TO THE TBI?????????
AT THAT POINT YOU SEEM THE PERSON ON TRIAL AND ALWAYS HAVING TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF FOR SOMETHING YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER WANTED TO HAPPEN. SOMETIMES I EVEN FEEL THAT I'M BEING TAKEN FOR A GOLDIGGER WHEN I'M TRYING TO CLAIM MY RIGHTS OF TRYING TO LIVE AND COPE WITH MY DISABILITY.
BOB NOW THAT YOU HAVE BECOME ONE OF THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT COPE WITH TBI I WOULD LOVE THAT YOU WOULD NOT ONLY POINT OUT WHAT OUR TROOP ARE GOING THRU WITH THE VA SYSTEM BUT POINT OUT WHAT ALL OF US GO THRU ON A DAILY BASIS AND TO TRY TO MAKE OURLOCAL,STATE, AND FEDERAL AUTHORITIES AWARE OF WHAT WE ARE GOING THRU AS PEOPLE FROM PERSONAL, FAMILIES, FINANCIAL, HEALTH, INSURANCE AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND EVERY WHERE YOU TURN YOU FIND A DEAD END . I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN BATTLING WORKERS' COMP. AND INS. CO. SINCE THE ACCIDENT AND IT GETS MORE AND MORE FRUSTRATING BECAUSE NOBODY CONSIDERS YOU AS A HUMAN BEING AND THE ONLY THING THAT IS CONSIDERED IS THE$' S THAT THEY NEED TO DISBURSE BECAUSE OF YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION, PAIN AND SUFFERING IS JUST A BURDENTHAT YOU JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH, SO AS THE SAY ING GOES " MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHIT WALKS"
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS COMMENT AND IN AROUND ABOUT WAY GIVING A SHOULDER TO CRY ON!!!!!!!!
