So … Keith Olbermann couldn't have been expecting thing. In lobbying MSNBC to give protege Rachel Maddow her own show, Olbermann thought he'd scored two programming hours for his political agenda. Which, well, he did. But he also didn't just provide a solid lead-in for Maddow's 9pm show — he gave her the opportunity to beat his own ratings.
As the Nielsen data from Tuesday shows, Countdown clocked 1.635m viewers (and 509k in the 25-54 demo), while The Rachel Maddow Show built on that for a total of 1.801m viewers (and 534k in the demo).
Might Olbermann have built a monster he can't control? Too soon yet to tell. And while his critics would be none too happy to see Maddow's show grow more popular, they will at least force a smile knowing MSNBC's ratings king is being bested by his own creation.
Either way, Joe Scarborough is beaming — on-air.
I can't stop smiling. From what I've seen of Maddow, she's all the things that Keith is not: pleasant, intelligent and tactful. I hope she continues to beat his arrogant behind like he's stolen something. I bet the backstabbers and haters at MSNBC are grinning from ear to ear.
If this holds up, it will lead to that pompous, arrogant, self indulgent tool's inevitable downfall like his other cable network stints.
I agree with a lot of what Olbermann says, but he has become so unlikable. There is no difference between him and Bill O Riley anymore. They're opposite sides of the same coin and that too bad.
He needs to take a step back and let some of the air out of his over inflated ego.

Chris Matthews once called the shots at MSNBC. He got the lion's share of the PR budget, such as it was, the best guests, etc. Then Olbermann's ratings surpassed his and then KO was in the driver's seat. Now Maddow has swiftly overtaken him in the ratings. Wonder how long before he's booted to the curb the way Chris and others have been? Some within MSNBC can't wait for that glorious moment to arrive.
That Maddow is a goodlooking dude. I hope he does well.

Maddow is a clone of Keith Olbermann in every way, right down to mannerisms and voice inflection. She engages in the exact same kind of unrelenting bullying nastiness that is Olbermann's trademark. The ONLY difference between these two is that Rachel smiles when she's sticking the knife in. That's not what I'd call pleasantness…it's what I'd call fakeness.
What ever happened to unbiased reporting on any network. Or is there such a thing from right fox to scary left MSNBC, Olbermann should go back to ESPN. Can't do much damage there.

Olberman and Madow are sickening. They criticize Fox news as being conservative biased but if you ever watch Fox news, they have guests from both the left and right debating the issues. In Hannity and Colmes, both sides. Whereas on Olberman and Madows shows they usually only have leftist guests. There is never 2 sides debating.To me that's sickening. And they have these shithead programs on back to back for 4 fuck'n hours. The same bullshit at 8:00 and 9:00 as at 10:00 and 11;00. It is the epitomy of the piss pot society America has become sice the scum bag Jews dragged it down. Yes, the fuck'n kikes are behind it all. Kikes have no morals. They are the scum of the earth.
