Redesigned 125-Year-Old Ladies' Home Journal Won't Look a Day Over 110

What to do when you're 125 years old and newborns are stealing your audience? Revamp! That's what Meredith Corp. is doing with Ladies' Home Journal, just as it did with Better Homes and Gardens, with "new typefaces, more photos and illustrations along with new columns including Medical Mystery and a takeoff on one of the magazine’s trademark fixtures, 'Can This Marriage Be Saved?' only in the food department. 'Can this Recipe be Saved?' will offer readers healthy makeovers of favorite family recipes."

Middle aged ladies on the cover? Nope, not getting rid of 'em.

The truth is, there are just not too many magazines out there that cater to middle aged women. "More" has almost an exclusivity on that market and middle aged women still enjoy magazine reading. As a 53 year old, almost, I, personally, don't like reading and looking at fashion and makeup articles with teenagers and twenty year olds as models. Don't identify with them and, really, it's a joke to see their eyes used when the article is about skin care for aging eyes. So, if, what's left of magazines for older women want to freshen up a bit, okay by me. Wish they would look to "More" for More examples of what women want.
