Richard Blackwell Dies, No One Left to Make Fun of Britney's Outfits
Do not go gently into that ill-fitting night

Richard Blackwell, the fashion critic who once called Madonna "The Bare-Bottomed Bore of Babylon," died this Sunday of intestinal complications at the age of 86. He founded the Ten Worst Dressed Women list, was a semi-popular fashion designer, and (literally) wrote the book on fashion disasters.

If life was a Russian novel by Gogol or Dostoevsky, it would come as no surprise that such an acidic tongue would ultimately be silenced by an infection of the bowels. As it is not, let's pay homage to the grandfather of snark with a couple of his more cutting zingers:

Britney and Paris: “Two peas in an over-exposed pod”

Barbra Streisand: "She looks like a masculine Bride of Frankenstein."

Dixie Chicks: They look like a trio of truck stop fashion tragedies/ trapped in a typhoon”.

Meryl Streep: "She looks like a gypsy abandoned by a caravan."

Sharon Stone: "An over-the-hill Cruella DeVille."

Bjork: "She dances in the dark - and dresses there, too."

Victoria Beckham: "…in one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty ‘Posh’ Beckham can really wreck-em.”

Lindsay Lohan: "From adorable to deplorable."

Oh, I don't think we needed HIM to help mock Britney's sartorial choices.

You're right, Andy P. - We need a whole army! Any one man to whom was entrusted the task would be vastly over-worked and obscenely under-paid?? This world needs more Mr. B's who can puncture the egos and stifle the dreamers.

And he said when he was a young rent boy(!), he had sex with Errol Flynn. Hmmm….

My favorite quote from him was something about extra-voluptuous Ann-Margret looking like a sausage in one of her tight stage outfits.

If anyone has a database of his quotes, please submit a link. I'd LOVE to read them!
