Rue Mcclanahan worries about Katrina's 'best friend' victims

Rue Mcclanahan

When she's not ignoring Bea Arthur, PETA supporter Rue Mcclanahan is going on national television to remind us human begins aren't the only ones suffering from Hurricane Katrina's aftermath — pets are struggling to survive too.

And with rescuers' varying policies on whether to save animals from harm's way when there are plenty of people left to bring to safety, it's about time someone weighed in on the "take your medicine or your pets" debate. Cue Rue:

Some people were given the choice of taking taking their necessary medicines with them or their pet. Now I think that what they could've done is strapped the medicine in a little packet on their back or put it in their purse. You don't have to take a suitcase full of medicine.

Or you could've tucked it into Tinkerbell's Prada sweater like a good drug mule.
