Not only did Russell gain the weight FOR his latest film (just as he did for his Oscar-nominated role in "The Insider"), but his weight in his offscreen life usually is related to whatever film he is preparing for or has just completed. Meaning his extra pounds are work-related, ALWAYS.
Some idiot gossip writer who can't read got it wrong. As Lana and MJBK said, Ridley mentioned that he had Russell put on weight to play the older CIA operative for the Body of Lies film and now, he's having Russell lose it for Nottingham.
Ya gotta just shake your head. But now the false version of the story is going around the net as though it's true.
