Even though his publicist Robin Baum didn't return our Blackberry pings, we had it on good authority Russell Crowe would make good on his David Letterman engagement - and he did. And we must say, his guest spot was a publicist's wet dream.

He spun up a full apology (personalized for damaged desk clerk Nestor Estrada), owning up to his actions, playing up his role as husband and father .. Robin must bet tearing up at his performance. So much for the hardlined denial, though. Especially with that, uh, videotape.

Oh, and he got around to promoting his film Cinderella Man and his iTunes-only album.

He'll certainly be making more publicity rounds, including a Hardball interview set to air today at 7pm EST on MSNBC. Meanwhile, a conviction in court could jeopardize future U.S. work visas.
