In December, Women's Wear Daily reported that Gourmet editor in chief Ruth Reichl was planning on producing a new show for HBO. The show was set to chronicle the Reichl's experiences as a food critic in both New York and L.A., and was said to be very post-Sex and the City.
Well, we're not too sure what came of that, but, today WWD announces another of Reichl's ventures in television. A cooking show. A Chinese cooking show. The half hour series will be called Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie, will air on WGBH Boston Oct. 7.
"This is a magazine on television," Reichl added. "This reflects Gourmet and what our readers are interested in."
Well, we think her readers are probably also interested in an HBO series based on her life as a food writer and the affair with her former boss, but … whatever. They'll have plenty of Chinese food to cure the disappointment.
Are You A Foodie? [Amy Wicks, WWD]
The show's first episode is on China and its cuisine. The other 19 episodes are all over the globe and focus on such topics as Molecular Gastronomy, Avante Guarde Cuisine, the Green Kitchen, Contraband Cuisine, Nobel Rot… Definitely a show for the foodie.
