Ew, remember Failure to Launch, The Family Stone, and Smart People, those horrific Sarah Jessica Parker movies? The first took in $88m domestically, while the second grossed $60m, and the third, uh, just $10m. Not terrible sums (minus the last one), but definitely regrettable roles. Then along came Sex and the City, racketing up $134m so far and landing Parker back in the hearts of single gals everywhere. And now that Parker has found her stride again &mdash that is, resurrected the role that squarely put her on the map — it looks like she's going to stick with what she knows best in the near future.
Her next project is The Ivy Chronicles. Tell us if the description sounds familiar: a dramedy about a single gal making her way in New York.
By all accounts, it follows in the vein of The Devil Wears Prada, The Nanny Diaries, and The Starter Wife: "It centers on Ivy Ames, an Upper East Side woman who, after losing her high-powered job and getting divorced, starts over again in a less ritzy downtown apartment. After pulling her children from private school, Ames starts a business to help upper-middle-class women get their children into elite kindergartens."
It's like she combined Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte into a solo role. And she'll make out handsomely.

Smart People was a very good movie.
The Family Stone wasn't so bad.
Failure to Launch. OK, that was sucksville.
I actually loved the Family Stone. Wasn't she supposed to be shrill? Diane Keaton was the best thing of that movie of course. Wasn't Smart People supposed to be an "indie" with a low budget, making its 10 million gross not bad overall?
I liked The Family Stone too, but then I've got a girl crush on Rachel McAdams.
