Did you know both President Barak Obama and Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) will be attending this year? Did you know past guests to the event included, Colin Powell, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg (I-NY), Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) and DC Mayor Adrian Fenty (D-DC)? Perhaps you were also unaware that Senator and past Democratic VP Candidate Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) was once president of the Alfalfa Club?

Now, given the names mentioned above one can easily see that the Alfalfa Club is not some throwback racist society, but rather a very old club of Washington elite. In this case, I would say that Governor Palin has clearly impressed some very influential people to score an invitation to such an exclusive event.

It is quite clear to any intelligent person that Governor Palin is attending the event to try to advance the causes of the state of Alaska. She needs to try to present Alaska's case about the ANWR legislation which would permanently ban drilling in Northern Alaska where there is no environmental impact to worry about and enough fuel to supply to supply the whole US for 25 yesrs. Also the stimulus package as Alaska needs an exemption for the "shovel ready" stipulation since their weather does not allow them to be "shovel ready".

Unfortunately, all of the states, except Texas, gave up their "right" to secede when the rejoined the Union after the Civil War.

Texas, is unique, as we still have the right to leave. Texas is the only state that was one an independent nation. When the treaty was signed to join the United States, there was a proviso that we could leave the Union.
