Weren't you just thinking the other day how this Sarah Palin's teenage daughter Bristol's pregnancy scandal was totally to September what John Edwards and Rielle Hunter's love-baby was to August?
Too bad, it's not. There is a so, so much salaciously better rumor about the former beauty queen and her sexcapades that is going down.
The National Enquirer wants any fans of the Edwards/Hunter and Palin scandals to please step forward, because do they have a scoop for you:
Yesterday, National Enquirer ran a print story claiming Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband's business partner. Now, if this was two months ago, everyone would have had a big laugh because who credits that sleazoid publication with having any real facts? Unfortunately, we're not even one month past the tabloid's latest (mostly?) true scandal story. Now that John Edwards admitted his mistakes at gunpoint, and the Enquirer's editor-in-chief David Perel has a taste of credible journalism the Plain affair tale has enough life-ruining potential that the McCain camp has jumped all over it, threatening to sue the publication and releasing an official statement saying, “The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it.”
The National Enquirer's story ran entirely on unnamed sources, as these things are wont to do, which makes it easier for the the GOP to try convincing supporters, and the media, that the scandal is one of fantasy cooked up by the tabloid. But they also run the risk of taking another shot at the media, and that hasn't been going so well for them. And the "leave this woman alone" tactic? Didn't work for a certain New York senator, and it's not gonna work for a VP candidate.

Its unfortunate that Sarah Palin was brought in the middle of all this. But this has to do more with how thorough John McCain's vetting process was. It is no accident that John McCain came 894 in a class of 899 in Naval College, it is also no accident that he crashed his flight 3 times during naval flight training.
This guy is not thorough and he has erratic judgement.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when the press has sunk so low that the NE (National Enquirer) is now the conscience of the rich, powerful, and famous. Without NE there is no limit to the lies and corruption our leaders would get away with. The MSM (main stream media) are all muzzled by big money, big power, and big politics. If there is a verifiable story about the Palin family that reveals true character of our future leaders it should be told. Don't back down!!

Edwards didn't get destroyed. When your daughter's baby's daddy's MySpace page says "I'm a f*&$ing redneck" and "I don't want children", THAT is being destroyed. When you, as mayor, married someone in a Walmart, THAT is being destroyed. People cheat on each other all the time. But cheating on your husband with his business partner is just plain evil.

Edwards *did* get destroyed, for good reason: While he was portraing himself as the cheerful rock upon which his cancer-battling wife and family could depend (and reaped the political full faith and credit of that as well,) he was in reality having an on-going affair with a bit-player. Edward's crimes transcended the merely insensitive, narcissistic and poor judgement to rank as offensive and pathetic - and the electorate doesn't forgive pathetic.
The MySpace page is NOT a forgery. His current page still says he does not want kids.
