Sarah Palin's Big Problem With 'Gotcha' Journalism: It's Actual Journalism
Make the meanies go away

When politicians are down and out, they love to blame the media for their woes. Hillary Clinton did it when everybody fell in love with Barack Obama. Barack Obama did it when his message of change got substituted with John McCain's message of maverick-dom. And now McCain and Sarah Palin are doing it, now that SNL is parodying the VP candidate and, um, Katie Couric is asking her fair questions.

Blaming the media, while sometimes warranted, is, however, never a good strategy — because a press that feels attacked will attack right back, and it's sort of the media who get to decide whose message goes out. But it's especially stupid for someone like Palin, who actually was a journalism major in school. And that's why she told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, "it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago."

Ethical journalism, by Palin's definition, does not include being asked what magazines she reads, being asked for clarification about how Russia's proximity to Alaska makes her experienced in foreign policy, or being asked to name one other Supreme Court decision aside from Roe v. Wade. (Um, at least know Brown v. Board of Education.)

And so continues Palin's ignorance:

"I'm going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just say that's okay, those are good testing grounds. And they can continue on in that mode. That's good. That makes somebody work even harder. It makes somebody be even clearer and more articulate in their positions. So really I don't fight it. I invite it."

It's no wonder a good chunk of America will be watching tomorrow's VP debate at a viewing party, because it's surely gonna be one.

Palin is a frightening joke and the media's not to blame for her stupidity. You'd have to be a complete fool to not see how dangerous and dumb this woman is, even if she survives the debate, she's still not qualified to take over as president if McCain croaks.

Do they even ask Barry about his scary associations? With ACORN? Rev Wright? Bill Ayers? He scares me so much more than Sarah Girl!
Look at his communistic, leftist trail….it stinks.

oh that's hilarious… ACORN does good work allowing low income family to survive in a nation where the system doesn't help as much as it could or should. and if were gonna ask Obama about ACORN ask McCain about being part of the Keating5 that screwed up the economy back in the 80's. ask Palin about her voodoo priest that chased little old ladies back in Kenya. and Barrack's connection to the weathermen underground? really really? hey my dad was black in the 70's and went to a predominantly white college. Why don't we ask him if he knew Ayers? the point being there were probably a lot of people who knew and knew of Ayers in his time as a student radical, before he went somewhat nuts he was just a student activist against the lies the administration were promulgating at the time. MANY people knew of him, that doesn't make them American terrorists.

OK, so while we're dragging up long-ago associations, how about McCain and the Keating Five? If it's all up for grabs, it's ALL up for grabs.

Palin is completely, 100 percent unqualified to be governor, vice president or president of the United States. Her pick by McCain is just absolutely stupid, and it will cost McCain the election, as it should. Welcome President Obama and Vice President Biden–as it should be.
