Best known for allegedly serving her staff (non-optional) tequila shots as a means of motivating the troops, embroiled Early Show exec producer Shelley Ross has more leaks to worry about. (Obvious criticism: She's getting harsher treatment because she's a female exec, an assessment we wouldn't argue with)
Some Chatty Cathys at the ratings-challenged morning show are eager to share gossipy anecdotes. Like the time medical reporter Rob Foreman, who dared challenge the program's commitment to scientific evidence, was forced to write an apology and read it aloud to the staff. Or the time when another producer was forced to reschedule his colonoscopy because it conflicted with sweeps.
Apparently, her tactics have made for an unhealthy working environment! Which explains why, since September, some 21 staffers have exited. Probably to "spend more time with their families."

Was she the genius who hired Steve Bartlestein and Jenna Wolf.
Shelley is a ranting narcissist whose start in media was 5 years at the National Enquirer. is said to have risen to her heights in the industry by backstabbing, running discrediting and undermining campaigns against her perceived competition,
using her wealthy husband's influence, and engaging in behavior far beneath anyone serving in an executive position. She is said to have risen on the coattails of Diane Sawyer who she produced for many years. Shelley highlighted Diane over her co anchors and cooperated with Diane to give her the most prominent visual shots and stories.
This kept her in the arena quite successfully until her narcissistic and emotionally unstable and abusive personality became too much of a liability to be worth the rating to ABC.
Shelley is a self created legend who takes far more credit than is valid, and scapegoats far more people than are deserved.
She herself revealed that she has a "Jay Leno doll
who (she) sticks pins into. The woman is a
witch. And it's quite unfortunate but well deserved that she is finally being clearly identified for what she is. There is long view of road kill as the road of her life is viewed in retrospect. It was inevitable that civility and
human values would prevail over the rantings and
sadistic abuse for the sake of Shelley's narcissistic ego needs for demeaning others.
Shelley is an example of the Peter Principle.
Without her husband's money and Diane Sawyers
importance, Shelley is just another cruel tyrant.
Beth,
I love when knowledgeable people who write well log on to these sites. Thanks, well written.
I am sorry to see her leave. I picture her staff, tied to the basement water heater, trying to get to work Monday morning. I guess I misunderstood her, she seems so nice, shoving people in front of the train.
