It's hard to feel bad for Katie Holmes about signing a prenup when it's a shitload of paperwork that got her into this whole Tom Cruise mess in the first place.
Her Scientology cheerleader supposedly asked her to sign a prenup but once her father Martin found out about it, he insisted on issuing his legal expertise. He wants to ensure Katie is awarded a few mil should their nuptials not make it to the five year mark. Wait, isn't that how long their original deal was set for? (Though it also included the "no sex" clause, and we all know what happened with that.)
It certainly doesn't seem odd that Cruise would ask her to sign an agreement to protect his assets. After all, he's twice divorced, wise to the ways of the world, estimated to be worth more than $300 million and earning an average of $25 million per film! But, says the source, the idea of a prenup hadn't occurred to the comparatively naive Holmes: "She is so head over heels in love with him and couldn't bear the thought that he might not be equally as in love."
And then there's the little fact that Katie's asking price is, effectively, $0. No, we're not kidding:

Normally we'd chalk that up to an IMDB error, but seeing as how Pieces of April has grossed a disparaging $2.36 million since its 2003 release, we're going to blame it on Katie's unbankability. Batman, anyone?
