If you're as excited about the debut of Sylvester Stallone's Sly magazine as you are about his boxing reality series The Contender, then you won't be excited about this item either - unless you qualify as a Jossip regular reader (and not one here just for some racy Britney Spears and Paris Hilton photos), then you'll be thrilled to know about the latest media vs. media spat brewing.
We've got American Media/Stallone's Sly and Sly Magazine LLC, which planned to sell its first issue later this year. The name of the two magazines, however, is where the similarities end. Stallone's Sly is for the 40+ man who started taking Viagra recreationally three years ago and now takes it for its actual medical purpose, while Sly LLC targets fashion and apparel loving women.
Sly LLC, which already owns SlyMagazine.com, says it notified AMI multiple times about the alleged trademark infringement, while the Magazine Publishers of America says it only has Stallone's title in its database.
So who's right and holds original claim to the magazine title Sly? If you ask us, Stallone and AMI should hand over the name to Sly Magazine LLC. After all, they did throw their launch party first.
