Our first instinct: By challenging the vice president on gays having kids, Wolf Blitzer finally grew a pair. Our second instinct: "Wolf Blitzer?" Someone should do the legwork to find out what his birthname was. Our third instinct: Blitzer essentially backed off and apologized for his line of questioning because … Dick Cheney stayed silent. Isn't staying silent, like, the first trick you learn in j-school?
Cheney's daughter has come out a lot in the past to weigh in on political issues and campaigned for her father. If she wants to be a political force and put herself out in the public forum, then it is fair for questions to be asked about her. Furthermore, Cheney is a Republican and let'st be honest, Republicans as a whole are anti-gay and of course, they are against homosexual couples raising children. Cheney is in a very sticky situation, because his daughter is a glaring contradiction to Republican ideology…he has chosen to be Vice President, has chosen to be a Republican, and has chosen to say he is "glad to have a 6th grandchild". Unfortunately, he has chosen not to grow balls and say "I'm against the lifestyle my daughter chooses, but I lover her and her child yadayadayada…" I mean you know he's against her being gay…if he's not then he should say so.
He has been openly supportive of his daughter many times, and spoken about her pregnancy many times. If you read the transcript of the interview, you'd understand why he clammed up. Nobody likes being interrogated.
