Spiking Bungalow 8: Southside Steals the Scene
Everything old is old again

It wasn't even two weeks ago that we found ourselves wondering about the resurgence of Bungalow 8 (pictured, right). Not as the lair of A-list nightlifedom it once was, but a club reborn with a vintage finish, suddenly appealing to anybody who's braved Gold Bar and missed the era of a door policy based on status, not bottles and tables.

And then, a new upstart club called Southside (left) arrived on the scene. But beside the location — Southside's in Little Italy to B8's West 27th Street — the place is a veritable clone of the 2001's hottest nightspot.

You needn't be a Guest of a Guest editor to see the similarities, as UrbanDaddy notes. Black-and-white checkered patterns. Potted towering palm trees. And if Southside really is anything like Bungalow, the drinks will be priced pre-recession, the staff will play polite onlyto Us Weekly and Paper magazine staples, and its location on Broome Street will be overrun with copycats by summertime.
