Magazines everywhere are thanking Atoosa Rubenstein for paving the way from dingy third floor office to glam television studios. Announcing the next crop of mag staffers to get their 15 minutes: the glossy-eyed employees of AMI. Straight from our old stomping grounds, One Park Avenue will follow the lives of editors, reporters, fact-checkers, and assistants from an array of David Pecker's tab titles, as they scurry from Guy&Gallard to the VH1 studio. And because half the staff at Star sleep under their desks, all of this will be done without ever changing clothes. Or showering.
According to a source involved in the talks, a hand-picked group of employees was summoned to a video conference last Wednesday to learn what would be expected of them if the show gets greenlit. The producer will begin interviewing candidates this week in search of eight staffers worthy of being tailed by round-the-clock camera crews, we hear.
“Star, Celebrity Living, Men’s Fitness, Shape—we had people from everywhere,†the source said when asked about the cattle call. “We’re having meetings, but there’s no pen to paper yet. We haven’t made a commitment but we’re exploring it.†The only thing certain, the source added, is that the proposed series won’t prominently feature Pecker or editorial director Bonnie Fuller.
The show might feature her assistant, though, in which case we will at least be able to hear Bonnie through the cell phone while the poor girl runs around midtown with arm fulls of dry-cleaning. And since we really don't think we can handle another one of Victoria Gotti's attempts at reality, we have our fingers crossed that the show's secret producers will go with office hottie Emiliano Neri instead. He looks cute all unshowered and rumply, and we do so miss staring at him while warming up the boss's coffee.
