I'd be fucked up too if I had to work with that ditz Lori Stokes . She's like a blonde but she's black. Total valley chick if you ask me .

Well — I like Bartelstein!!! I always thought he had a thing going on with Lori Stokes…..I haven't seen her on the air in a couple of days — maybe she went with him. Oh, well — its ABC's loss…..now, I'll watch Fox!!

joe t., has a problem. Lori Stokes is a fine person Bartelstein is a nice guy but a drug attic. In a weird way, he deserved to be fired.

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING EYEWITNESS NEWS FOR MANY, MANY, MANY YEARS AND HAVE ENJOYED EVERYONE'S CHEMISTRY IMMENSELY. I AM TOTALLY BUMMED BY THE ABSENCE OF STEVE BARTELSTEIN. I ENJOYED THE BANTER BETWEEN BARTELSTEIN & STOKES & OTHERS. HE JUST ALWAYS SEEMED LIKE A REALLY NICE GUY. I TOO THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING BETWEEN STEVE &LORI. IF HE HAD A PROBLEM ABC SHOULD HAVE OFFERED HIM HELP, NOT FIRE HIM. I MISS HIM, JOE T IS A DUDD. I WON'T BE WATCHING ANYMORE.

I kept wondering what happened to Steve B. At first I thought that maybe he was on vacation but not for this long! So today decided to do some online investigating. I am upset that he is gone. I watched ABC's morning news because of him. I think that he and Lori had a great rapport. I am now changing to NBC for my morning news.

Really,ABC.Steve bartelstein and Lori are the real deal.People wake up to see and hear them each morning.If I were in charge I would do anything and everything to get them back together.Ratings can go back up as soon as things are back in order.Please ABC fix the problem.

I also miss Steve. The chemistry between Lori and Steve is what made the show.

Steve is a hot Leather Daddy who likes to hang out at The Hanger Bar on Christopher Street. Perhaps the lack of sleep and living life large took it's toll on him as he had to report the news from 5AM to 12:30PM. Too bad he didn't follow in weatherman Sam Champion's footsteps and find a boyfriend and settle down instead.

I thought that Steve was on vacation but I noticed that no one was saying that they were filling in for him and got suspicious. I went to google and there was the sad news. The morning show will not be the same, no one can take his place, the chemistry between him and Lori cannot be duplicated by anyone. That entire team is my morning "friends" and it would not be the same without Steve.

If all these allegations about drugs are true, Then I suggest that ABC network reach out and help him because he is a great asset and it would be a big mistake to lose him. He can come back and share about his struggles which would help others. Lori is trying her best to be professional but she is not the same without Steve. ABC listen to your viewers, we love Steve and want you to reconsider. I am sure if he turns up on another network, you will lose a great percentage of your viewers. Steve is infectious; give the guy a break. Those of us who are human does not expect perfection, we are human and can relate to your crew if and when they screw up.

Steve is a good soul and I am sure has a bright future but I sure would love to see him on air again, he brightens my day. All the best to you Steve, your fans are praying for you and we hope that ABC sees the affect that you had on its viewers.

I was really disheartened to hear the Steve Bartelstein was recently fired from ABC morning news. The news anchors there had such good chemistry. Even if you don't have a family mentality which requires love and understanding. You should have the good sense to understand your ratings will more than likely have a drastic decline. I still like Lori and Bill, so I might continue to watch. But if Lori leaves, you can forget about my watching your program. I hope these network bosses don't live in glass houses.n

I too thought Steve was on vacation or maybe had surgery, but weird no one was talking about him, especially Lori who used to talk about going to dinner or some other function with she and her girls…even Bill E. isn't saying anything about him…too bad for Steve and for us…I also liked the back-and-forth with them in the morning.

So sorry to see Steve's smile leave ABC. I watched early morning news because of him and Lori Stokes. I just figured he was on vacation, but for how long?! I will not believe these allegations of drug use. The man talked of sports constantly and looked like he should be on a box of Wheaties. Did I hear he'll be on a Florida news show? Miss you Steve.

I've bee watchin ABC morning news for many years and one of the reasons I tuned in so early was because of Steve and Lori. Now that Steve is gone I tried to watch but the magic is gone, Steve and Lori were like "Fred and Ginger"

ABC should have offered help or gave him an ultimatum, "get help or else" but not a dissapearing act.

I am switching the news channel. SORRY ABC, you should take some blame for your actions or lack of it, sudden firing should not have been one of them.

I must also switch to a different network for my morning news - Just too uncomfortable to watch the PHONEY and FORCED "friendly comradary" with leftover team. Not one co-anchor seems at ease to fit in - and Bill Evans acts like HE'S on meth! what's up with him lately? He seems to think it is now His and only His job to interact with lori-(her laughter when nothing is funny is annoying) & he can't seem to intoduce Joe Nolan without idolizing the man as if he were a god. Lay off the coffee Bill, or whatever, and start acting natural again!

I have to agree with everything brynn wrote. I miss the chemistry that Steve orchestrated with the team. I've tried to watch the other channels in recent days and its even worse. I have a crush on Lori, so I'll continue to watch, but I really miss Steve and hope that he comes out of this well.

I AM SHOCKED! Steve has serious addictions issues. Whatever he needed to prove, steve failed! The poor guy needs therapy and quickly or in a year he will be homeless.

I am quite shocked to hear about Steve Bartelstein. I loved those little comments he made about each news story. I've been watching the news with Steve and Lori for many years and I wish that he was offered help rather than fire him. I watched the news because of Steve & Lori, they are perfect TOGETHER as a news team. Please find a way to bring him back. It's not the same in the morning.

I too am sorry about Steve. Love the chemistry of the morning show betweem him ,Lori and Bill. i switched from NBC to watch them, i guess ill be switching again,the show is too bland now..

I am sad that Steve is no longer on the show. I also noticed that Lori was not on the show today. Don't tell me that she is gone too? I would not be surprised if she left because she and Steve worked excellent together, and I think the show is suffering now because of Steve's firing. I know that I do not enjoy it as much and will probably seek another network soon.

I loved Steve. I can't go back to FOX because they are boring and CBS is unprofessional so I guess it's NBC for me. It's a big loss for ABC , firing Steve. He was a wonderful wakeup for many people. The show needs to get that spark back before it will compete in the morning news slot again. Joey

I'm also disappointed that Steve was fired. I'm really annoyed that ABC said nothing. There are alot of dedicated viewers out here who become very attached to certain news programs, especially in the morning. It's the start of the day. I really miss Steve & lLori's chemistry. She appears blah without him, & a little lost…like a deer in headlights. Bring him back! I've been watching NBC these past few weeks. Steve was much cuter & I loved his sense of humor. I often found myself lol.

I hate watching eyewitness news without Steve. They really made a big mistake. I enjoy the chemistry he had with Lori. People can be rehabilitated. Michelle Charlesworth and others who act as fill in make things worse.

I have also been wondering what happened to Steve. I am shocked he has been fired. He was so friendly and was up on all the sports. He kept the morning show interesting with Lori. I thought, what a good group, Steve, Lori, Joe, etc. Now I have been watching NBC. I kept checking to see if Steve was back and now I find out he was fired. If he has a problem, help him through it. For years, he helped ABC's ratings. Now, it's ABC's turn to help him out.

Steve, I don't know why you were axed. But you enlivened the whole morning broadcast. Of all the drones on the neighboring channels, you had the rare talent to come across as a truly nice guy — the perfect compliment to all the dreadful news that greeted us each morning. Unfortunately for ABC, your abscence illuminates the lack luster skills of what's left behind. My sincerest hope is that they will reconsider. You are a rare commodity in a world that seems to forget we are all just normal berift with the frailties that sooner or later touch each and every one of us. Good luck my friend.

I MISS STEVE. I can't bare to watch the morning news now that Steve is gone. On Monday mornings, I find myself hoping that he'll be back and that he was only away on vacation. Lori Stokes can't hold that show togehter on her own. (She has a bit of a snotty edge sometimes, by the way.) Steve was the backbone. He was the personality. He was such a nice guy. He kept Lori from being too ascerbic.
PLEASE BRING HIM BACK. I am exploring other morning news shows int he mean time.

Referring to what #12 said, steve and lori and the weatherman had that team together, my husband always said lori and steve had athing going but it just not the same with out steve hopefully the other anchor manwill blend in sooner than later, Steve we love you work thru what issues you have and we will probably see you soon until then Lori and the morning crew keep up the good work.

Cant get over the sudden disappearance of our Steve. Very disappointed to see that ABC offered no support to him by offering him help for his alleged problems.
Give the guy a break, he's brought in a big audience and deserves more than being tossed aside like an old shoe.

Okay, I'm a little late getting the news. Every morning I'd ask myself "where is Steve?" At first I thought it was a long vacation…then I thought he went to another station (which didn't seem plausible, since I thought he and Lori would be together forever). It's not the same without him.

I hope to see him back on the air soon.

So sorry to see Steve go!! I was an avid watcher of Darlene and Rob's Today in New York broadcast on NBC until I got hooked on the chemistry between Steve, Lori and Bill on Channel 7. I guess I'll go back to Channel 4 now. I'll miss ya Steve - take care.

I loved Steve and Lori's chemistry. They made my mornings. I especially loved the way he could gently make the otherwise straitlaced Lori laugh her adorable laugh. Too bad ABC didn't have the compassion to help him. I'll have to watch boring NBC from now on. Boo.

I kept wondering where Steve went. I thought I missed an annoncement about vacation or personal time. I agree with the sentiment that the chemistry between Steve, Lori, Bill and Joe can not be duplicated. Lori looks stiff and angry on the air these days. The whole affair is really sad.

Steve and Lori was my cup of coffee( I don't drink the stuff). Everyone, seems tense and unhappy. ABC bring Steve back or I'll have to watch another morning show.

I am so sad to learned that Steve got the axed.
I felt that something was wrong when I did not see him , but I thought he might be on vacation but after two weeks and no one mentioned him …I grew curious and did my research.
Steve and Lori along with Bill and Joe were meant for each other. Now they will be moving Lori soon because she alone with the others cannot attract the viewers.
People make mistakes and administratators and CEO's need to weight out the error and the long term effect (in this case the network)
In the next couple of months ABC will be at the bottom of the morning shows. Lori is not great without Steve.
I wish Steve all the best I relly hope he will be on a network somewhere where I will be able to tune in.

ABC-CHANNEL 7 IS VERY VIEWER UN FRIENDLY. THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO E-MAILS AND IF YOU CALL THEM, THEY ARE VERY NASTY AND RUSH YOU OFF THE PHONE. EVERYTHING THEY DO IS A SECRET. IF EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH NIELSON BOXES WOULD STOP WATCHING THIS CHANNEL, MAYBE THEY WOULD CHANGE THEIR ATTITUDE. THE FEWER VIEWERS THE LESS THEY CAN OBTAIN FROM ADVERTISERS. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE.

Steve & Lori bounced off of each other so well. They always seemed to be having fun. Watching that banter first thing helped start the morning on an up note. After all, isn't that what they were supposed to be doing? Sure, they gave the news as any other morning anchors do but THEY were also great at helping me wake up. Steve should have been offered help! This must be a tough time for Lori. ABC and it's vewiers are the loosers here, Steve will get another job.

Steve had to go. Garbled speech and excess comedy wrong on a news program. Also, Chris Cuom0 better as co-anchor. Robin too cocky.

I turned on the TV to watch my favorite morning news and was shocked that Steve was not there. I like others thought he was on vacation or had an emergency. Stupid did not find out until today that he was fired. He was an inspiration to the show. He will truly be missed. The program will not be the same. Lori is my favorite also, I hope she will be co-anchored with someone who will compliment her. ABC wake up. You could have offered him help.
